It's a religious value in eastern and western traditions, based in the belief that all humans have innate value.
It's not a scientific Darwinian law of nature.

You're free to co-opt a religious value and strip it out of it's religious context, but don't try to claim that the consistent practice of the Golden Rule is a scientific law of nature.
