Moral relativism

I haven't written a word about an Abrahamic god on this thread. You must have a deep resentment against a certain branch of human religion if you keep thinking about it and bringing it up over and over.
I am asking you to clarify why values are not human constructions. You say they are transcendent, but where is this transcendence taking place?

Derision and disdain are not consistent with practicing the Golden Rule

Sure they are. If I expect it in return. Jeesuz for a man with such vaunted intellect you sure are dense.

I never wrote a word about magic beams.

You haven't explained ANYTHING about your morality other than it comes from outside of space and time because of math. Or some such bullshit muzzy-headed shit.

Everything seems to be internal. The brain is a biological substrate for the mind, for conciousness, for subjective experience, for transcendent values.

^^^^Transcendent. Bullshit. You think "emergent properties" (examples of which I can point to are bullshit but you gladly scream "Transcendent" whenever you don't have a clue.

I find that when a poster gets angry and has to resort to derision and disdain, it means my comments are scoring direct hits.

Nope. I just hold you in such low esteem I see no need to be pleasant.

I am asking you to clarify why values are not human constructions.
What on Earth?? They are properties or perceptions of the human mind and conscience. I never said otherwise
You say they are transcendent.
They transcend all our understanding of quarks, electrons, molecules, and atomic electro-chemical bonds, which is completely how we are composed physically.

In some case, the values we perceive transcend what is actually necessary just for scientific Darwinian evolution.

"Transcendent" has a meaning. Outside of our experience.

But you will note that Cy doesn't allow for something that is within our experience (eg emergent properties which are manifestly obvious throughout the physical world). So he's pretty much stuck with "god"

Just like a proper "Intelligent Design" kinda guy.

Maybe it's because YOU DO AS WELL. How many times have you excoriated folks for not accepting the fact that Christianity was the foundational philosophy for all the great western universities in history.

But sure, we can play your game: if it isn't "god" then what is it? You say it CAN'T be physical ergo it MUST be non-physical.

What is that? (Are you honest enough to state your actual point? I doubt it)

Typically yes. Though Kantians will say there are just principles in themselves, Kant himself was a Christian.

Objective morality from God is the ultimate standard for all human morality.
Whether atheists like it or not.
It's still the standard all the others try to measure up to.
Go read you some Leviticus 18-19.

At least you are honest about using God to support morality.

Yeah..became that's where it comes from. :dunno:
God set the standards, and the rules this world he created works by, and you'd be doing good to know that.

Yeah..became that's where it comes from. :dunno:
For you, sure.

Yet, ancient Greeks and Romans had morality without using Christianity.

No they did not.
See? This is the "they did good, but not quite as good" bullshit.
The God rules reign supreme on this earth. Try and go against 'em if you want, I wouldn't recommend it.
The result of doing so, you will not like.

Hey, Cleetus, you ever read the Bible? As in the Old Testament? Your God had some interesting versions of morality in those days.

Whether atheists like it or not.

What if, hear me out, it turns out your morality is from Al'lah instead of Jahweh? You gonna be cool wit' dat?

It's still the standard all the others try to measure up to.

That's a pretty low bar for a religion that has more blood on its hands than can be imagined. The Crusades, the countless pogroms murdering countless jews, the slaughter. All in the name of the "good".

Go read you some Leviticus 18-19.

I'll see your Lev and raise you a 1Sam 15:3

Fuckstick, I've read The Bible 3X cover to cover, and you can go fuck yourself with a Saguaro cactus, commie punk.
Ain't no "what ifs", motherfucker. I will whoop your retarded commie ass.
You wanted to play, so we're going to play, boy, and I'm gonna show you a reality of this world.

The ancient Greeks were Christians? Is this what you are saying?
