The fact that some of Socrates' most prominent students were seen as Spartan collaborators, and many thought Socrates was therefore guilty by association, is a well known historical fact.

The Republic does not portray Socrates as a fan of democracy. Athenian citizens also perceived Socrates as hostile to democracy.

No record of the trial exists beyond Plato.
Xenophon wrote about Socrates' trial and other details of his life.

The fact that some of Socrates' students served as collaborators with the Spartan enemies is undisputed historical fact.

I think almost any reputable historian of ancient Greece would confirm that Socrates really got himself into trouble by being perceived as hostile to democracy and having students who collaborated with the enemy. The fact that he annoyed powerful people wasn't good, but did not merit capital punishment

It was like the Trump Justice Department: just throw out a variety changes and see what sticks.

Go learn what 'fact' is, Cyborg. Buzzword fallacy.
Sparta has nothing to do with it.
Athens was not a republic.

I'm just telling you what the conventional wisdom of scholarship is. Socrates was portrayed by Plato as hostile to democracy, moreover it is established fact that some of Socrates' most important students collaborated with Sparta, or served in the tyranny that Sparta installed in Athens.

Impeity is not what got Socrates killed. When democracy was reestablished in Athens, citizens remembered that Socrates' students served as Spartan collaborators and that Socrates himself seemed hostile to democracy. That is was ultimately led to his demise.

I think the charges were overblown, and Socrates can't be blamed that his students collaborated with the Spartan enemies.
Sparta has nothing to do with Socrates, Cyborg.
Impeity and treason is what got Socrates condemned.
Hemlock is what got Socrates killed.
