A Defense of a Liberal Arts Education

So the answer is yes?
Wow, you really are clueless without the help of AI, aren't you?
I just basically said I have virtually no interaction w/ Owl or Dutch anymore.
You aren't on a political message to discuss politics,
Lately I've been discussing German politics. Far more interesting to me.
you're here to lurk people you have a strange fascination with
What people?
I'll admit, I find you somewhat interesting in the sense that you're a case study for narcissistic personality disorder.
Once again, what's your fascination with universities that you could never get into and their locations? I'm just mildly interested because I find you to be quite odd and l like to see what makes an oddball tick.

I admit, I've never once heard you say you were from the East Coast.
I'm not here to talk about the events of my life with strangers. I generally only share personal anecdotes with friends.
And congrats on 'winning' your strawman argument. I'm sure it feels good.

I'll repeat, all this has nothing to do with education per se. It's you and Walt engaging in a political identity thing with many of today's elite schools (we'll use the current top 20) currently being in states that you agree with. That's all this is about.
It obviously really triggers you that most of America's best research universities are located in the north-northeast and California. That fact is going to be true irrespective of me or anything I post. It's simply true independent of me.

I didn't say anything about interactions. I said there appear to be certain posters you lurk because you are strangely interested in them. I have a feeling you lurk without interacting.

If you're not interested in discussing American politics, WTF are you doing on an American political forum?

That's great! So what's your point? Or is there one?

The site is called Just Plain Politics. Is it limited to just American politics?
Whether or not it is, you should know where I stand because I do occasionally post about American politics.
If you don't you can always go to your usual crutch, AI and ask where I stand politically. I suggest ChatGPT.

You consider everyone on JPP your friend??

There is no 'best'.

Not a fact. Go learn what 'fact' means.

Random but you familiar with Hampton Township? My daughter's lacrosse coach is from there and she went to Miami (OH). (where my folks went to undergrad)

Any idea if the Pittsburgh area is much of a feeder to Miami?
Yes, I'm familiar with Hampton. And your folks went to Miami? That's Ben Roethlisberger's alma mater!

I can't answer your 2nd question, I don't know. The popular schools are Pitt and Penn State, Slippery Rock, Indiana, Grove City, WVU... but mainly Pitt and Penn State.

^ Once again, no argument was presented showing I was incorrect in stating the overwhelming majority of top ranked elite universities are in the north-northeast

And anyone who disagrees with you is "mentally retarded"?

Niiiiiice reasoning, there.

Cy is a "fanboy" of intellect. He's got just enough education to know where to look, but after that he lacks any ability to formulate his own ideas or even bother to question (even hypothetically) his "received wisdom".

His thing is to spout off what books he owns or what YouTubes he's watched. As if the mere act of acquiring the thing = acquiring the knowledge.

I think he has a huge chip on his shoulder for his inability to complete a grad degree.

Cypress has some attributes. Dude knows some Greek stuff.
He really does. :dunno:
Do I want to hear him talking to me about God? No.
I'll give him the credit that he's deserved, though.
The second he criticizes God in front of me will be when I will smack the shit out of him.

You are right. I don't wanna be overly dismissive of him altogether. He's obviously not a complete vacuum.

I doubt that will happen. Earlier he used to claim he was agnostic but it sounds like now he's less so. I've never seen him in any way critique or say anything negative about God, especially the Abrahamic god. He has clearly stated that he feels a great deal of western civilization and all its benefits derive in some way from Judeo-Christian values.

I think he's very much a believer. What his actual conception of God is is another thing. I don't know if he knows what he believes in.

Yes. Nothing wrong with being a believer. Some pretend it is universal and act like it is not their personal committment.

You definitely know your Steelers!

You remember Najee Harris. He went to high school at Antioch High which is about 30 minutes outside of Oakland.

A guy I grew up with teaches there and Najee was in one of his classes.

Najee was the number one recruit in the country his senior year. My friend was telling me about the day Nick Saban came to campus while recruiting him. He said the whole school was just buzzing.

I also love your new wide receiver Michael Pittman. He went to USC and is a stud.

southern Universities. They are much better than you seem to think! You are just a snob!
Another poster who isn't discussing what I actually wrote, but instead railing against what they wish I wrote.
