It was financial aid based on need.He had a scholarship to Punahou.
Since when did elementary schools offer scholarships based on academic or athletic achievements from 1st through 4th grades?

What did I say about Obama that was untrue.Jarod, I know you’re not responding and that’s totally your right but i’m still trying to understand your position here vis a vis Obama‘s education.
He went to Punahou which depending on the ranking is either Hawaii’s best, or second best, school that today has a cost of $34K/yr.
He then went to Occidental which is an elite liberal arts school that costs $95K/yr: He then went to Columbia before going to Harvard Law.
We you just mistaken on his background or did you feel the need to purposely misrepresent it?
I may be wrong about Obama, I thought he went for a year to the university of Hawaii. My apologies if that is true.To each his own Jarod but it's a trip this is what drives you when you get up in the morning. You base your identity off this?
What state school's did Obama go to? He went to Punahou in Hawaii, an elite private school, from 5th - 12th grade. He went to Occidental College (a school which costs $95K/yr today) before transferring to Columbia and then Harvard Law.
Kamala Harris' mom was a cancer researcher with a PhD from Berkeley. Her father became an economics professor at Stanford. Those jobs may not pay millions but that's hardly growing up in some working class family.
I look at my own life. My father was in grad school when I was born. He earned a PhD and became a professor. My mom got her MBA. So no, my father did not make much money as a professor. But if you tried to sell me as coming from humble beginnings that's also crap because how many kids have parents as educated as mine.
Just because someone goes to a private college does not make them elite. I’m really not following your arguments here. I think you’re making some assumptions that in my opinion are far from true. Do you think you’re elite because you went to USC, my wife doesn’t call herself elite she went to USD.And please tell me if they do it differently in PA.
In California if you go to a UC or a Cal State they say that's going to a state school. Me going to USC, no one would say I went to a state school.
I would assume it the same in PA, if you go to Penn State or Kutztown (where my friend went who pitched for the Giants) people would say you are going to a state school. But they wouldn't say that if someone went to Carnegie Mellon.
A couple of thoughts. I was addressing the state school comment. Private schools aren't state schools. That's why I was asking why you made that comment. I didn't mean to question your integrity but I was wondering whether you were purposefully mispresenting that to try and tell a better story. What did I say about Obama that was untrue.
He was not born to a wealthy family, I do not know the circumstances of his admission or financial relationships with the universities, he went to, maybe he was on scholarship, maybe he had a benefactor. He does not come from money, it did not grow up among the New York City’s wealthy, or Boston’s wealthy, or among those who suffered in the Hamptons or Kennebunkport.
It’s simply true that Obama does not come from the elite class.
Trump did not come from the elite class, but he conducted his adult life as a wannabe elite. Trump had a choice, he chose to try to be one of them.
I don’t know why you think I wouldn’t answer, I believe I always answer you. At least I do when I see your posts. You have good insight and honest questions.
Fair enough if you thought he went to Hawaii for a year.I may be wrong about Obama, I thought he went for a year to the university of Hawaii. My apologies if that is true.
I did not say anybody came from a working class family. And there is somewhere in between eat and working class, it’s called middle class.
If I didn’t know better, I would think you were putting words in my mouth in an attempt to prove me wrong for some reason.
State school = public schoolJust because someone goes to a private college does not make them elite. I’m really not following your arguments here. I think you’re making some assumptions that in my opinion are far from true. Do you think you’re elite because you went to USC, my wife doesn’t call herself elite she went to USD.
Plenty of people, I would call elite, by the common definition, did go to USD.
Most of their money is made off of book sales... Are you claiming that they insider traded their books?Nope. They all profited from massive insider trading from their own lawmaking decisions, i.e. they used their position to enrich themselves ... every single one of them.
One factor of elitist, has to do with their schooling, if one went to Exeter they are likely but not necessarily an “elite”.State school = public school
Private school does not equal public school
You acknowledge now you thought he went to Hawaii, but this whole point has been private schools are not state schools. Obama went to (elite) private schools the whole time. So saying he went to state schools is a misrepresentation of what he did.
I was simply saying he is not the type of “elite” Trumppers are upset about.Fair enough if you thought he went to Hawaii for a year.
This is what you said in the OP - Obama - Born to working class single mother, started at state schools but scholarships to Harvard. Started with a low paying job as a community organizer. Married highly paid Michelle.
I'm not trying to prove you wrong per se. Obama's story is what it is. I just believe you were mischaracterizing it.
I've told you my backstory here. What would you consider me growing up?One factor of elitist, has to do with their schooling, if one went to Exeter they are likely but not necessarily an “elite”.
Nope. Book sales is but a fleeting blip on the radar. The vast bulk of their wealth comes from their insider trading. Most of their money is made off of book sales...
Why don't you define what you mean by "elite"? Obviously you mean it as nothing more than an undefined slur.So I was not claiming that all private schools are elite, or that everyone who went to one is eelite.
There are no such things as "people-classes", especially not by anything you've defined. You have posted nothing but gibberish.I’m saying that the Bushes and Trump are members of that class,
They are dishonest, condescending scheisters.while the Obama’s, Clinton’s and Biden’s are not.
I don't consider you to be able to communicate effectively in English.I dont consider what the right wing is upset about are Elite
Who are "they"? Who are the "right wing"? Am I "right wing"? I wonder if your lack of English proficiency is what relegates you to the political left., but the Bushes and Trump are what they call elite.
"Barack Obama attended Punahou School in Hawaii on a scholarship from the Children's Scholarship Fund, which provided partial tuition assistance for low-income families."It was financial aid based on need.
Since when did elementary schools offer scholarships based on academic or athletic achievements from 1st through 4th grades?
FWIW, the Children’s Scholarship Fund was created in 1998. So it couldn’t have funded Obama."Barack Obama attended Punahou School in Hawaii on a scholarship from the Children's Scholarship Fund, which provided partial tuition assistance for low-income families."
Besides, he didn't go from 1-4, he went from 5 thru high school.
If you told me I don’t remember…I've told you my backstory here. What would you consider me growing up?
I posted it several times in this thread. If you told me I don’t remember…
What I consider elite is very different that what a Trumpper calls elite.
Thanks. That's a pretty big mistake by AI. I'll have to check further into this.FWIW, the Children’s Scholarship Fund was created in 1998. So it couldn’t have funded Obama.
That said, many private schools offer tuition assistance (reduced tuition) so he absolutely could have received that.

Sounds to me like you were middle class, like me and Kamala Harris and Barack Obama and most Americans.I look at my own life. My father was in grad school when I was born. He earned a PhD and became a professor. My mom got her MBA. So no, my father did not make much money as a professor. But if you tried to sell me as coming from humble beginnings that's also crap because how many kids have parents as educated as mine.
