IT'S OFFICIAL: President Trump announces the largest steel plant in American HISTORY, which will be built in IOWA

The newer technology requires training. You do not plug new workers into old systems. New machinery, new tech require retraining and constant training.
Of course a new mill trains people on its specific equipment and processes.

The region already has welders, electricians, machinists, millwrights, maintenance techs, operators, engineers, and people who actually know how industrial plants work.

And whatever preconceived picture you have of Iowa as some isolated cornfield is just silly. This site is roughly 2–2½ hours from Chicago, within reach of Minneapolis, and sits in the middle of a long-established manufacturing belt running through Waterloo, the Quad Cities, Peoria, and beyond.

They’re not building a steel mill on Mars. They’re building it in one of the most industrially experienced parts of the Midwest.

6,000 construction jobs and $95 BILLION infusion into the economy

"The LARGEST steel plant in AMERICAN HISTORY." 🇺🇸

American steel IS BACK!

The plant will begin production in 2030 and close to 2,000 manufacturing or mining jobs are expected 👏🏻

"The steel will be mined, melted and made RIGHT HERE in the USA."

"Once completed, [the] new steel plant will produce 10 MILLION tons of steel per year using iron ore from the company's Minnesota mine! LOUSY governor but great iron ore." 🤣

"The first new iron ore mine in the US in more than 50 years."

__________

The 2017 Foxconn Deal

• The Announcement: Flanked by executives at the White House, Trump heralded the deal to build a massive liquid-crystal display (LCD) panel plant in southeastern Wisconsin. He famously called it "the eighth wonder of the world" and promised it would create 13,000 high-tech manufacturing jobs.

• What Actually Happened: The massive project was drastically scaled back shortly after the election.

The planned $10 billion investment was slashed down to $672 million, and the job target was reduced from 13,000 to just 1,454 positions. The massive facility that was built ended up largely being used for storage and light assembly rather than the high-tech glass manufacturing originally promised.

How many mining and pellet making operations have failed in northern Minnesota in the last 40 years?
Regulations and purchasing offshore steel. Trump put a limit on that in his first term.
Notice you evaded answering the question of why MN lost out on a larger bite of the big apple.

Lets say this thing happens, and at the size that is claimed.......how many trains of pellets a month is that if it all comes by rail as I heard?

I also heard that part of the giveaway package is that IOWA will build whatever new rail is needed.
IF and as we say IF this ever become real it will have to be HUGE and I mean HUGE,
I have been through the Bethlehem plant just south of Buffalo and the ones in Pittsburgh PA and they are massive.
They are over 5 miles long and just as deep if not bigger.

The pellets can be made. The tech is pretty straight forward. The plant is scheduled to be completed in the next month.
Whether they can meet their claim of 7.5 tons per year we don't know.

What????

no fucking way as huge as this plant will have to be it will take a few years to build not a month.

Yup.

Magats only care about the announcement so they can be blasted on magat media.

- no new wars
- end Russia war on day 1
- end inflation
- bring down gas prices
- release Epstein files
Etc, etc, etc,...

Just blast them out without a care of whether you mean them or not and watch as the poorly educated clap like seals.

Seriously, what concoction of booze do you drink all day? You are melting down before our very eyes.

LOL. We’ve gone from “Iowa doesn’t have trained workers” to “but what about… trains?”

At this rate the next bombshell is:

“I heard this steel mill may also require electricity.”

At this point the source appears to be a guy, who knows a guy, who once drove past a railroad.

QPeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee,
That was a very stupid comment.

This is a state that has spent generations moving grain out, potash and fertilizer in, coal, ethanol, feed ingredients, steel, machinery, chemicals—you name it—by rail in enormous volumes.

But apparently a trainload of iron pellets shows up and suddenly we’re Lewis and Clark:

“My God… how will we move heavy bulk material across the Midwest?”

I have seen no one talking about that......AI says it will be near Wever which is all farm land.

How far this idea was thought threw we dont know, but there is certainly reason to be skeptical given who is doing it, and how little info they provide.

^derp derp

“Given who is doing it”? Who exactly do you think is “doing it”?

Mesabi Metallics/Essar is proposing and financing the steel complex. Mesabi says it is investing $15 billion in Iowa; Iowa has negotiated an MOU and incentives with the company. The Trump administration has supported the broader project, including EXIM financing for the Minnesota mine, and Trump hosted and promoted the announcement.

But the idea that Trump sat down with a railroad map, found an iron mine, selected a steelmaking process, calculated freight logistics and said, “Gentlemen, I have brokered us a steel mill” is ridiculous.

The people “doing it” are a multinational industrial company, engineers, financiers, railroads, contractors and Iowa economic-development officials.
