California lands six universities in the global top 25

Translation: You patented something so frivolous and inconsequential it could never seriously be called something useful to America.

Let me explain this to you. I'll even give you a chance to test out your bravery:

I spent many years in the latter part of my career doing huge amounts of IP searching. Which gives me a special skill: given the MINIMUM of information I can usually find about any publication I want. So if YOU were to tell me something about a piece of work YOU did I could probably find it if it were published somewhere and all within about an hour.

That was my job for several years mind you.

Ergo: if I give you any details about MY work I suspect you could get someone who could do the same to me.

So here's where your bravery comes in: If you doubt my claim then give me some detail about something you've done that is published online I bet I can find it with limited details.

You wanna dox yourself? Gimme a detail. If you don't (and I don't) the by all means keep it anonymous. That's what I would suggest is safest.

Translation: You patented something so frivolous and inconsequential it could never seriously be called something useful to America.

ALSO: Stop adding things like EXCLAMATION POINTS to my posts. You are altering them WITHOUT MY PERMISSION and WITHOUT ANY OVERT NOTIFICATION OF THE CHANGE.

Your dishonesty continues apace.

You exchange a LOT of files with your buds on JPP? I'm not surprised. I always assumed you and Doc had some vibrant file exchanges going on. ;)

Two replies to the same post. I'm glad you're not obsessed or anything.

I've posted my photos here many times. They are also on social media where many of us JPP folks are also friends. We have been long before you showed up to sniff after your object of desire, Cypress. I laughed though at how you make up your own imaginary portraits of people who don't buy what you're selling. Keep up the good work! A healthy and active imagination will keep your mind exercised. lol

Oh I can totally understand it. I knew quite a few folks who went into the oil patch and indeed the Gulf Coast was the place to go.
He declares that “economic growth depends on infrastructure, productivity, and education”. So he gets educated in CA and skedaddles off to Texas and Louisiana where average annual income is lower “ in Alaska, Texas, and Florida, and venture capital investment in California is larger than all the other 49 states combined”.
Then he disses my two friends from college that started and sold their own companies because he was sooo altruistic he preferred making millions for Exxon rather than contribute to CA, which, BTW has its own oil fields.
Sorry, doesn’t add up. Something is off with him. Waaaay off.

LOL. I would have gone to Nigeria or Angola if my job required it.
That tells me how desperate you were.
I went to Germany and Italy but wasn’t required. It was my choice.
Oil exploration was more fun than a barrel of monkeys.
Good for you. I’d go insane bent over looking at a computer all day.
What I didn't want for a career is to have to smell bad breath up close and get saliva on me everyday, which is what your glorified technician job entailed.
Me neither. That’s why I’d never be a hygienist.
I already had to explain you you once how ignorant you were about the petroleum industry when you claimed all oil companies in NOLA completely bugged out in the 1980s.
You never answered my question: did you live in NOLA in the 80s? There’s a reason I ask that.
If you want to work in the oil patch,
I don’t.
you have to go to where the oil is, for the most part in those days that meant Houston, New Orleans, Midland.
I could’ve worked anywhere I chose to and make a better living working far less hours than you did working for The Man.
You don't go to Seattle or Vermont to work in the oil industry.
I didn’t go anywhere to work in the oil industry
Petroleum engineers and geoscientists in the NOLA oil patch were paid very well.
Yeah , I knew plenty of them. I made waaay more than them working far less hours and taking more time off for travel, masters swim meets, etc.
And I had fun in NOLA.
For 20 months. I did too for four years while a student.
That's all that matters to me. It obviously stresses you out.
What’s obvious is you completely negated the essence of your OP.
Sniffing bad breath close up everyday doesn't sound appealing.
Then don’t work as a hygienist.

That was my job for several years mind you.
I don't give a rat's ass about your job.
Anyone who claims to have commuted "every day" from Kenner to UNO on Airline Highway simply cannot be trusted to tell the truth.
give me some detail about something you've done that is published online
LOL. I wasn't a paper-pusher publishing obscure articles nobody other than five people reads.

The work at Exxon Exploration Company was proprietary and Exxon does not share those results with competitors. We could get in trouble from leaving seismic data open on our workstation and not locking the screen when we went to lunch.

The PhDs at Exxon Production and Research Company might get the glory of publishing an article in public journals.

If you hate New Orleans, love sticking your face in people's mouths, and can stomach getting blasted with bad breath everyday that's your business.

It's not the life I would have chosen.

I enjoyed my career and the places I lived. That seems to infuriate you, but you'll learn to cope with your resentment and obsession someday.

Looks like your OP blew up.

That's an inordinate and excessive amount of fantasizing and writing about me.

Do you think about me late at night, perhaps even dream about me?

So you do dream about me late at night. I've never had two men think about me, write about me, gossip about me this much since I registered here in 2006.
The OP blew up in your face.
The point of the OP was to sing the praises of how a great university system has made CA a shining city on the hill and you end up telling us how you had to leave and the wonderful opportunities Louisiana, Texas , Nigeria and Angola gave you .
You got played and can’t handle it.

blew up in your face!
You are masturbating to your own personal fantasies
No fair minded person who reads this thread thinks I was buried and owned.

Every time you tried to offer proof I was lying, it blew up in your face.

Even your buddy Murphy tried to tell you you were wrong about all the NOLA oil companies completely bugging out in the 80s.

You negated the entire premise of your OP here. THAT’S the point.
:victory:

You weren’t there in the 80s so you have absolutely no clue about how devastating the crash was.

Nope, what you wished I believed has nothing to do with what I actually believe.

The premise is that the data overwhelming show that California has an excellent system of higher education, which has contributed to the economic dynamism of the state.

Nowhere is there a premise that I would never work for a time in the petroleum exploration sector

Always with an excuse 😊
