Now that Trump has set this stage for the government to take long term equity and golden share controlling stakes, while then using the power of giving them contracts to ensure they succeed i agree with Bernie Sanders that the Dems should embrace and maximize it. Use it as a way to push and even create industries and ensure they get the funding, via buying their shares, and contracts they need to succeed.

Prior to Trump this was derided by the Republicans and called a form of Socialism and was said to be wrong as it was the government 'picking winners and losers', which can have immense moral hazard, but i am now not just embracing this but will find common cause with magats here like @T. A. Gardner who defend it and i say the Dems must not just embrace it but maximize it as a way to get their initiatives into the public sector.

Senator Bernie Sanders supports government equity stakes in private companies, notably proposing legislation for public ownership and voting control in major artificial intelligence firms and to support the Green Energy Sector. [1, 2, 3]

The Trump administration has announced or completed equity stakes in 43 private companies, according to tracking by policy analysts at Semafor and the Cato Institute. [1]

Conservative economist and former Trump advisor Stephen Moore has criticized the Trump administration's policy of acquiring equity stakes in private companies, warning that government ownership acts as a form of corporate welfare and Socialism and leads to excessive market intervention. [1, 2]

Key Stances by Stephen Moore
    • Opposition to Government Stakes: Moore has stated that the federal government buying private sector assets is a bad idea that mimics corporate welfare. [1, 2]
    • Market Efficiency: He argues that private markets and alternative financing (such as private credit) allocate resources and fund innovation far more efficiently than government intervention. [1, 2]
    • Risk of Regulation: Moore warns that government ownership gives the state leverage to dictate corporate actions and impose unwanted regulations on private enterprise. [1]
    • Skepticism on Broad Claims: While Moore has generally praised broad economic initiatives or deregulation under Trump (such as changes at the FTC), he has remained skeptical of heavy-handed state involvement in company equity or over-promised investment figures. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Who else will join hands across the left right divide with Terry and i and agree that the left should not just embrace this but be prepared with a whole list of companies that they utilize government money to take stakes in and control as a way to steer the future of industry?

As Terry would say in defending Dems doing this ..."not socialism", thus ok.

The horror.
Picking and choosing winners is something the Nazis did. Socialists want total government ownership of industry.
Sounds like we've embarked on a slippery slope.
Your fellow magats here like @T. A. Gardner defend it as ok for Trump and Bernie or the next Dem least leader to do saying 'not socialism'.

Of course everything any Dem in power, including Mamdani has done is 'not socialism ' by the proper definition but this level of control of the means of production (golden share rights plus contract power) is as close to real socialism as we have seen in the modern age. And I, like Terry, will defend it and hope the next Dem POTUS uses it to the max for dem priorities.

The American people have had it

They will support ideas like this now

Thanks to the total corruption of the Epstein/ maga criminal spree

Manadani is a communist.

Socialism is based on theft of wealth, Kewpie.

Deep dive, huh. Gimme a break.
you got that backwards as the ones having to supply proof of claims are you magats.

You guys keep making claims that are complete bullshit and then acting as if the claim is proof. ...

The federal government said 15,903. The answer was zero.

President Trump touted in a primetime address that his administration had found more than 250,000 noncitizens on the voter rolls of Nevada and just three other states, those states are still asking for proof
