Because they then destroy democracy with the wealth power

Musk ring a bell
It is impossible for wealthy people to destroy a republic. It would be impossible for wealthy people to destroy democracy if it wasn't for an entirely corrupt 2 party system of cheats, liars, and thieves. But look who you vote for.

In 1910, Teddy Roosevelt predicted what the super-wealthy would do and attempted to control it.
He said ' The prime need is to change the conditions which enable these men to increase power. Therefore, I believe a graduated inheritance tax on big fortunes, properly safeguarded against, and increasingly rapid in amount with the size of the estate.
What he, a very rich man, saw coming as a threat to the country is here like never before. Accumulated wealth is intrinsic with accumulated power.
You Trumpys are happily voting and fighting for more power for the super-wealthy. You are taking America down with your sycophancy to the wealthy. We all suffer the impact of your being conned by a not-too-bright leader, who is a great conman.

for decades, republicans AND democrats in office have catered to the wealthy because they help that loser class of elected officials stay in office. I repeat, the wealthy would have almost no power if it weren't for the evil greed of career politicians

The wealthy were in no hurry. They lived lavish lifestyles as they bought politicians and used lobbyists to change the laws to favor themselves. Project 2025 was a compilation of their desires. It was the final blow to the power of the people. Citizens United was a big step.Trump fell into their laps. I thought it was too early for them to attempt the takeover. But I was wrong. Musk went after it and may have succeeded.

The wealthy have the power of wealth, and it is a huge power. It is the power they use to get politicians to do what they want.

Wally, don't you wish you hadn't made that foolish bet against Trumps S&P a year ago, you could have bought a real car.

If a billionaire buys beneficial legislation by giving money to politicians, who is more to blame? the billionaire or the politicians?

You have a cartoonish image of how it works. While sometimes it does work that way, many times it is about a billionaire investing the money entrusted to him in places that do what he wants.

there is nothing wrong with a billionaire/millionaire/trillionaire investing money legally and making more money from it.

And there is nothing wrong with them having their say in how government is run. There is a problem with them blocking out everyone else from having a say, or blocking other people from making money. And there is definitely something wrong when rich people ignore their fiduciary duties, and claim other people's money as their own.

“The wealthy have the power of wealth…”

This is profound, Wrong Way Wally, profoundly redundant.

Do better, WWW.

No one is blocking you from moving up from your Uber Eats job and earning more money, Wrong Way Wally, except, perhaps, yourself.

and I REPEAT, the ONLY way for the wealthy to do that is by corruption in politics. Congress, or state legislatures, have all the constitutional tools available to them to prevent that looting, but they do not because they are evil and greedy

The wealthy make money, and have power beyond politics.
