In Daytona Beach recently, there have been four murders in one black neighborhood in the space of 9 days, 4 people have died in 6 shootings with 9 people wounded.

All I have to do is watch the local news. Knowing that the city where I live is an average American city, it's safe to say the same things occur here as occur in most every other city.

Young black men shoot at each other a lot and often times hit their target or, unfortunately, some unintended victim. Sadly the unintended victim is occasionally an innocent child who was minding their own business when he/she was cut down by a stray bullet.

I see these stories happening in area black neighborhoods all the time.

One does not need to be a criminologist or a sociologist to see what is going on.

If you had any idea how the system operates, you'd understand that plea bargaining and guarantees of parole are a tool prosecutors use to get admissions of guilt and convictions without lengthy trials.

Most cases are not cut and dried like on TV.

Without the ability to make deals with these creeps, they would all end up going to court, having long, drawn out trials that are not only expensive but tie up court dockets while often time resulting in acquittals anyway.

At least this way, prosecutors can tell the victims' families that the scum bucket who raped their mother or daughter or somehow assaulted them, got sent to prison for x number of years.

This is not a perfect world and compromises get made.

Had the kid not had easy access to a gun, he might not have killed the second victim.

I agree that in a case like this one, where there is probable mental illness involved and/or when the crime is as serious as murder, the kid should have been in a mental hospital.

But that in no way negates the fact that easy, unfettered access to guns is the driving force behind our insanely high murder and violent crime rate in this country.

And as I explained to you, sometimes it is necessary for prosecutors to make deals with these scumbags to either get them some prison time and avoid risking an acquittal in a lengthy, expensive and time consuming trial. Sometimes they make deals to get one criminal to roll over on a worse criminal. In this case, the kid obviously should have been held in a psych ward, but apparently, someone dropped the ball.

But the idea that we could eliminate all bond and parole just indicates your lack of understanding of how the criminal justice system works.
