60% of Americans did not go to college.

Birmingham didn't fare too well on the list......move!

You're such a jeenius! What state is that flag from in my signature, jeenius boi?

Are you fucking literate at all, motherfucker? Huh?!

Whew, there is no Birmingham, FL. One never knows, though..all the time I hear of towns I never heard of before..

There is no Birmingham, Florida; Dipshit!

The Millennial generation has more college degrees but makes less in real wages.

Go figure.

The number of college degrees means little. How many of those degrees were from quality institutions and how many of those degrees were in rigorous and marketable fields of study?

What I want to know is how comes students in other countries can attend college, obtain a quality education at schools that have a fraction of the resources most US Universities have and at a fraction of the cost.

In OECD countries about a third have no cost for tuition. In the OECD countries that do charge tuition the average is about $16,000 to obtain a bachelors. The US and the UK are outliers in that the cost is double that of the average OECD nation at $32,000.

Productivity is way up so are CEO salaries & stocks.

But. Boomers poisoned the well they forced out Unions & busted out chops with immigrants & outsourcing & feminist workers.

Lol @ Yonkers making making he list.

My Irish family left Yonkers because their once White neighborhood became Black.

Crime began to spiral out of control.

My Irish great uncle was mugged several times & they had their car stolen & heard gun shots.

my English/Scottish family left VA with their slaves in the early 1800's, wanted to go fuck up Ohio and Kentucky

Universities are now a fraud....they have two main agendas.....wrecking the West and sucking up money.

As for educating their customers they have no interest.

That's my take on what's going on these days as well. They used to be for preparing young people for the real world. :dunno:

It was like that not THAT long ago..too.

A number of years to be certain...but damn! College was pretty much the same for 100s of years.

Then there was a relatively rapid shift to a different objective.

Education is more than vocational training.

True that. Much of my education has no real market value but a lot of my education helped develop me as a more rounded person and has benefited my life in ways that you just can't put a price tag on.

Though I do understand why those who don't have a college education are resentful towards some who are arrogant about their education and behave as if that makes them a better person than they are. I agree with them. They are right to be resentful towards such snobs.

A lot of fields require college now.
Back in the day any old impoverished uneducated Irishmen could become a cop.
Not the case, anymore.

There's truth to that. In my grandfathers day when he was in school a high school education placed you in the top 25% of the population in education and only 5% of the nation had a college education.

In my day a college education placed you in the top 25% of the population education wise and a graduate education placed you in the top 5%. Now it only places you in the top 40% and a graduate education places you only in the top 13%.

I have a theory the curriculum was harder back in the day.

People with college degrees make more money than those without.

That was true in the 50s, to 80s but not so true in todays technology dominated work place.

Recent college graduates in the U.S.*earned an overall average starting salary*of*$50,944, according to the Summer 2019 Salary Survey report by the nonprofit National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE).Aug 22, 2019

For starters, the salary isn't that much of a drop-off compared to a four year degree. SimplyHired.com estimates that a trade school graduate will make about*$42,000*per year. Over the course of thirty years, the difference between that trade school graduate and the four year college graduate is only*$90,000.Dec 16, 2013

Now lets add in the student loan debt.

Average Student Loan Debt in The United States. The average college debt among student loan borrowers in America is*$32,731, according to the Federal Reserve. This is an increase of approximately 20% from 2015-2016. Most borrowers have between*$25,000*and $50,000 outstanding in student loan debt.Jan 4, 2021

So while your college student is still racking up debt the trade school grad is earning a salary which puts them ahead of the college student.

But you keep on believing those old tales that have not been correct for the last few decades.

I have a theory the curriculum was harder back in the day.

I doubt that. I think that it's closer to the truth that a college education is far more available and attainable than in the past. In my fathers day if you didn't have the GI Bill or your parents didn't have the money or you weren't one of the lucky few to earn a scholarship then you simply didn't go to college.

So yea now you may have to go into a lot of debt to get a college education but the loans are available where back in my fathers day student loans for college didn't exist.

Typing in bold caps make you look like a teenage girl, or like a high school dropout.

NO, IT EASILY ALLOWS ME TO PROVE THAT YOU CANNOT REFUTE A SYLLABLE OF WHAT I POST, BUT ARE REDUCED TO THE "FONT POLICE".....AGAIN.

WHAT A SHIT JOB...PERFECT FOR AN IDIOT LIKE YOU THOUGH, MORON.

Welders make $60K+ a year while people with L.A. Bachelor degrees are servers and baristas at Starbucks.

Those are exceptions but the averages show that unless the college grads are in the super high fields doctors, lawyers, computer science the difference in earnings isn't all that much.
