Canada absolutely does have a constitution, and it's a democracy, although you wouldn't know it from watching our LPoC operate.Canada is quite different from the US.
The United States is a federated republic. It has constitutions.
Canada has no functioning constitution.
None of that is true. It's current form of government is federated dictatorship, with most provinces as oligarchies.
While a Canadian PM can hold more functional power than a US president in many respects, if they have a majority gov't, PM's don't get to just shoot off executives orders like a Pez dispenser. New "laws" don't spring from his desk autonomously.
Universal healthcare isn't the devil in disguise. It's just common sense. Most of Canada's population lives along the border with the US.
Canada has 'universal healthcare', which is essentially communism, providing substandard care (if any at all!), and is very expensive.
The United States does not.
Despite these differences, the border between the United States and Canada is quite peaceful and fairly easy to cross.
FYI our original "healthcare plan" was just hospitals run by the Catholic church, like our education system was, and our concept of caring for people & educating them comes from the POV that those things are universal rights "for all God's children", which all serve the greater good, and therefor shouldn't be denied anyone.
It's a bit weird that in the US, in 2026, a child's ability to get basic services that will help make them more productive members of society depends on how much money their parents have. You're born free... to die for nothing.
You need to stop looking at everything as an absolute, as if we live in some sort of test tube and everything with John Henry scrawled on it is perfect while everything that Marx said was a blight on the human cause. In life there are grey areas, and that's why there are amendments to the constitution... it wasn't born perfect and still isn't. Every form of gov't has its strengths and weaknesses, and the best government will have the proper mix of all the best ideas, regardless of who got them through the printer first.
And TBH, a monarchy with a good king is better off than a democracy run by Kamala's clowns, and sometimes one 4-yr stint is enough to upset the applecart.
My broader point is that - culturally - Canadians and Americans are no different:
- we all grew up in a Christianity-based democracy
- we both have a large left4rd cult whose devotees are addicted to self-loathing/revisionist history/dishonesty
- we fought in most of the same wars
- we both have a lot of pro-gun and anti-gun lobbyists, although it's never really at the forefront of the national conversation like it is with you guys
- you guys have Spanish as a very widespread second language, although unofficial, and we have French as a second language but it's not widespread at all, and it is an official language
- we all watch the same TV shows and movies, and listen to the same musicians, etc. Some of your biggest cultural influencers are Canadian, like Jim Carrey, Ryan Reynolds, John Candy, Ryan Gosling, etc.
Probably the biggest actual difference between Canada and America right now is the fact that Canada doesn't have a conservative MSM news outlet like Fox: our TV news broadcasts are all spoken in 100% left4rd. So while you at least get basic truths pumped into your homes at night, we are limited to bullshit and silence. The internet is our only portal to the kind of information that MSNBC doesn't wanna share.
