Accepting Nomination From White House Lawn Violates Hatch Act

And yet Washington has long been a deeply corrupt place, so pardon me If I dont take seriously the claims that Trump violated the Hatch act during the convention....this does not even come close to something that I care about given the ambient corruption of Washington.

My post said the Hatch Act does not apply to the president, so how could Trump have violated it? Do you consider Trump part of that deep corruption?

I take it that you did not watch any of the RNC show this week? They're not about the "feelz"?

Yes. A little groin massage for the base and a lot of applesauce for the Independents. Lots of "feelz". :)

I was looking mostly for the tone of each candidate, including the VPs, and disregarded the happy horseshit being slathered over each of them by others. As expected, the Democrats painted Rainbows and Unicorns if they won and demonized the Republicans while the Republicans made promises about things they should have done this four years and demonized the Democrats. In short, SSDD.

I saw that....I also know that the so-called journalists either dont know that or they are liars if you are correct, because they have been going on and on about it. I believe some D's have as well.

Are they lying or are they that stupid is a question for the times.

This is politics. Both sides will say anything about the other side that is negative. One side says Trump violated the Hatch Act, the other side says Harris might not be eligible for VP......Both untrue but we are all willing to believe anything bad about the other side.

Journalism is supposed to be about journalism, about truth telling. That the former journalists have almost all gone into the Mind Molding business producing propaganda rather than journalism is one big bullet point in the argument "America is Fucked!".

Is it really a vision of hope to say "I'm going to create a government large enough to give you everything you need" when it also means it is big enough to take away everything you have? Is it really a vision of hope to offer as a campaign promise a list of stuff they plan to ban?

What do they want to ban? Candidates win votes by promising free stuff, not by banning anything.

Hello Dutch Uncle,

Why do you think that is? If you say "the fucking Republicans" then you are part of the problem. :D

Both sides are to blame, both sides have to work together to fix it. Both sides need to unify the country and not say things like "We support unity and now <insert want to ban abortion or guns>" or anything else that limits the freedoms of others simply because they can.

I agree there needs to be responsible people on both sides. Our country works best when we have diversity of opinion and each side acts as a counterbalance to the other. But that requires that each side listen to the other side. I see Democrats paying very close attention to what Republicans are saying, but Republicans not doing a very good job of understanding Democrats.

When a Democrat tells you what is wrong with Republicans it is usually pretty accurate. But when a Republican tells you what's wrong with Democrats it is usually full of exaggeration, spin, and outright lies.

Republicans have to make things up about Democrats, (and their base eats it up.)

Democrats only need to accurately reflect what Republicans say and do to make their point.

Why is that?

Why does one side lie and the other doesn't have to?

And why do so many people believe the lies?

It's frustrating seeing lies carrying nearly as much motivating power as the truth.

Semi-Automatic rifles, high capacity magazines for starters. Let's not forget this sithe same party that banned 36 oz sodas for your own good. ;)

Agreed with your first paragraph then you roll off into the weeds in the second. :)

Hello Dutch Uncle,

OK, fair enough. Present company excepted. Why can't more Republicans be like you? I don't hear any of the Trump Republican public figures talking like you. They mostly just have so much hatred. Most of them I can't even talk to. All they want to do is unload their frustrations on me. For the most part, talking to a Trump supporter is like seeing a button on the wall labelled: 'Insults' and continually pushing it. Well, that's ridiculous. There's nothing in that for me. I'm not going to do that. I am perfectly willing to talk to anybody who is reasonable, but those people simply are not reasonable. I don't care why they're all pissed off but they are not unloading their grief on me. Life's too short for that!

I suppose there are the Lincoln Project people. Republican people who do not support the president have been all but pushed out of the party. I gotta say. If DT loses this election I can see that whole hateful wing of the party reeling. What's to become of them? All that hatred isn't going to just go away. Is there another pompous ego ready to try to step into DT's shoes and pick up the pieces? Or when he breaks it, will it be broken forever. Personally, I think it would be very beneficial for our country if people were to just give up on that whole mindset but I have a hard time imagining that happening, realistically.

DT calls them 'The Democrat Party.'

I'm sure he does that on purpose.

All part of his determination to keep America divided.

He's a KAD:

"Keep America Divided"

He's not making America great again.

He's Making Hatred Great Again.

Many Republicans and Democrats are like me except they don't spend hours every day posting to a political forum. They have better things to do. :D

Do you believe LV426, Bourbon and Jackson are "average Democrats"? Or do you think they are a subgroup of people who are truly upset and highly biased toward a political cause? If the former, I disagree. If the latter, then they are simply the flipside of the RWNJs.

Look at Trump's rallies; even when 20,000 showed up, it was out of tens of millions in the surrounding area. Most people weren't that fired up about him. Texas has 29M citizens. 20,000 people is 0.07%

Trump's Tulsa rally cost $2.2M and drew people from Texas and Arkansas. Capacity was 19,000 but only 6200 showed up. What does this tell you? It tells me Republicans and Trump supporters aren't as wacky as the RWNJs on this forum nor are they as extreme as you've been led to believe.

At the moment, I think most Independents will vote Biden even with about 6% of us voting Third party. So why would so many vote for Trump even though he's probably nuts and drug addict? Because it's still about which party will control the US government. What each party is offering offends about half of Americans. Compromise would be good, but that's not going to happen. The Democrats won't lose the house and they might even gain the Senate.

It disturbs me, and I'm sure millions of other Americans, to realize that the Democrats will dominate both the Executive and Legislative branches next year. We already know their agenda; it's on Biden's website - More spending, more taxation, more banning. That's not the American I would prefer.

Your hatred for the American people is shown every time you denigrate other Americans and seek to use force to dominate them and push your beliefs upon them. You are violating your oath of service every time you do so.

I understand our preferences are different. And I'm happy to continue debating what's best for America. And I feel like we both agree there has to be this ongoing dialog. That's what having a healthy democracy is all about.

What is an 'average Democrat?' I can't answer that. I don't know. I'm now a Democrat. I was an independent going into this year, had been for a very long time, but I changed parties because in my State we have closed primaries and I wanted to be able to vote in the primary for Joe Biden for President. I'm no 'average Democrat.' I don't think there is any such thing. Any more than there is an 'average Republican.'

When I post things like: "When a Democrat tells you what is wrong with Republicans it is usually pretty accurate. But when a Republican tells you what's wrong with Democrats it is usually full of exaggeration, spin, and outright lies...." I am not talking about you or people like you or me. I am thinking of the public figures who are in lockstep with DT, trying to get him re-elected, spreading the fear and hatred. I am comparing people like Matt Gaetz and Jim Jordan to people like Jerry Nadler and Chuck Schumer.
