all of that crap aside, west virginia probably has the most hospitable and helpful population in the country. Back in 1987, when I found myself stranded with a broke down motorcycle in a small town 2 hours away from charleston on a very early sunday morning, by 7 AM half the town already knew that a US Marine was in need of assistance. Some people loaded up my bike on a trailer and took it to the shop in town, the shop owner opened up to bring my bike in and secure it, then another let me use their shower while they found another that was getting ready to make his sunday run to the airport and waited on me so I could ride along and catch a plane to my hometown in Illinois.
You don't find people like that anywhere else that i'm aware of.
