California lands six universities in the global top 25

Why talk about MIT if you have no idea what is happening there?
First you're ASSumming i dont know whats happening there and second, I wasnt talking about MIT someone else was, dumbass. Maybe your liberal arts "education" didnt teach you how to follow a fucking conversation.

What's to rebut?
Fair enough. Good that we can agree you’re pompous and pretentious.

You and Matt repeatedly failed to prove I 'lied', and then your last resort was to massively attempt word-parsing whether Phantasmal, Owl, Christiefan, Dutch are either my 'friends', 'pals', 'buddies', 'cohorts' , 'comrades', or 'chums'.
Where did you meet them? Inmate at the prison where Foul worked before getting your PhD from that top tier university? You and Douche were in rehab together?
How often do you get together with them for dinner or recreation? The logistics must be brutal.
Or do you meet with them on vacations?

For the sake of discussion, what do you mean by anti-education? Because to me two people can both fancy themselves "pro education" but have very differing ideas on how that should look.
It is a good question. I frequent many forums and the right spend many threads deriding education from kindergarten to graduate schools. The usual is they indoctrinate and trade schools and home school is better. Most of us realized that there were big gaps in our education when we began reading history books not used in the school system. And we also learned by talking to other people from all walks of life. But My schooling began in the early 60s. Elem and Jr high was decent. Good for the deep south but then when new math and alt ways of teaching combined with integration teachers at my school failed in many cases. THis was the early 70s. But I had always been a voracious reader so college was not that hard and neither was grad school.

I still believe in public schools but sick of what politicians have done to them. Public schools in this country was one thing that leveled the playing field for the American dream. If you could achieve the degree the career choices were there. Now politicians use it as a wedge *(like many things) to divide us and claim it is subversive and turning students into socialist and Marxist with that hidden curriculum. I taught 40 years and never saw any of that bullshit........Teachers were too busy trying to achieve the ever increasing standards and keeping order..........

You're grasping at staws.

Back in the old days, did pen pals actually have to meet for cocktails? LOL

You're off the edge of the map, chap. You went from repeatedly failing to prove I "lied", and then hilariously pivoted to some kind of frantic word-parsing about what qualifies as a pal, a friend, a comrade, a buddy, a cohort, a chum, a sidekick, a confidant, an associate, a peer 🤣

If you consider people you never met and never will to be friends, that’s your choice. I just have different standards.
Now that we’ve both agreed you’re pompous and pretentious I’m mildly curious - is it because of insecurity? Or do you consider this admirable behavior? Or maybe something you tried to work on but failed?
Or are you really that oblivious about it?

Ask anyone who ever took a university physics, chemistry, calculus, or statistics class if politics was discussed and taught in class.

You know what you'll discover?

Yep, that's right. They'll all agree with what I said.
I was in college once upon a time, and YES, politics WAS discussed in classes that had nothing to do with politics. That's how leftists are, dude.

You should have asked for your tuition $$ back. Only at a shit college would math and chemistry professors be teaching politics in class.

That still blows my mind. Think about it. He started a PhD in 1971, took about 30 years off, and finished it in 2007. He did not change studies or anything. He put down his work for 30 years, and no one picked it up and finished it, so he was able to finish it 30 years later.
I have to wonder if his PhD dissertation committee gave him a soft landing because, he was Brian May after all.

This dude seems incapable of making a meaningful contribution related to the topic of the thread :palm:

Nah, dude, I'm just laughing at you and your pontificating about life with a PhD. You're hilarious.

(And the only way YOU make a meaningful contribution is when you hit up AI which you do quite a bit)

I appreciate the response. A couple of thoughts.

For me personally, I take these message boards with a pretty large grain of salt. I think of Twitter and how they say Twitter isn't real life because a very small minority are the loudest people, but spend enough time on it and you can convince yourself everyone there speaks for the nation.

So no question, in a nation the size of ours you can absolutely find people who will argue against education. But on the whole, I think most people speak to its importance but there are differences in how people believe it should be delivered.

I'll speak personally. I'm very passionate about education but I have strong opinions on areas where I feel we fall short and the improvements that need to be made. And I understand not everyone shares my vision of delivery. And I respect that reasonable people can disagree.

And I also understand not everyone is academically inclined. That doesn't make them bad people or mean they can't live very successful, fulfilling and amazing lives. So when people argue for trade schools or other options I absolutely respect that.

I'm getting long winded so I'll stop.
