You are using the standard liberal tactic of avoiding answering my questions while trying to put me on defense.
Do you know anyone on the welfare rolls? I do, and I am here to tell you everything above is the left wing smoke screen and talking points. Instead of attacking the right (I don't care about Trump, he most likely will be gone in January.) how about telling me about any leftwing programs that enriched peoples lives and got them off welfare.
I answered your question. You asked why do Democrats want ppl dependent on govt. I pointed out that this is a fallacy. It's called a strawman in formal debate. You make up something that isn't true, then expect me to defend it. Not playing the same. I pointed out to you why (D)s -- and myself -- support a social safety net.
In answer to your question, above, yes I have known and still know a few ppl receiving govt. benefits. In fact, I sent you a PM about the very scenario that you want to me point to -- someone who used the safety net to better themselves and become a hard-working, tax-paying citizen. When you read it, you will see why I sent it to you in a PM. As for current beneficiaries, there are a few adult students who have been in my classes over the last few years who were/are receiving some govt. assistance (other than Pell grants, that is). They are working towards self-sufficiency. The only ppl I've ever known (all two of them) who tried to make receiving govt. bennies a lifestyle were pre-Clinton. Both were white ppl, too.
