Everyone knows that. We just do not want the wealthy ruling us, like you apparently do.
Hate to tell you sport but the rich have run things from the very beginning of civilization. Hell even under communism the rich were in charge.
The ideal, of course, is that every citizen has reasonable access to education and employment since that is in the best interests of national security and the economy. Same goes for general health since healthy, educated citizens make the best soldiers and taxable citizens. Uneducated and/or sick citizens are a liability so it's in the nation's best interests to minimize poverty and poor education in our nation. Since our nation has failed to resolve this problem, then obviously neither the Democrats or the Republicans have the solution.
The aphorism often attributed to Einstein should more commonly used in Washington, D.C.
Hate to tell you sport but the rich have run things from the very beginning of civilization. Hell even under communism the rich were in charge.

Your tone in this post is somewhat cynical, but nevertheless reeks of truth. In fact, it reminds me very much of what one of my favorite authors -- Heinlein -- might have said. In fact, YOU are starting to remind me of Heinlein. lol
On a more serious note, history has shown us for thousands of years that the most productive, peaceful, prosperous societies are those where there is not a huge income disparity between high and low. Education is available and encouraged to those who seek it, and education and instruction in the trades -- including war -- are easily obtained. Those who for whatever reason have no way to have enough -- widows with children, the disabled, the elderly, mentally crippled, and so on -- are provided for by the community.
It's called cooperative behavior and it is the main reason that our species has managed to become the dominant (large) species on this planet. When we forget that, we lose our humanity, our souls, and our dominance.
Right! And that is why communism got a hold on people in the early 20th century, and why similar schemes have attracted peons and peasants for all of our existence.
Our country was born from a desire to escape the feudal, wealth=might type of existence. That's what modern conservatives don't seem to understand. You've been taught by corporate masters that taxes = no jobs.

So in effect higher taxes do mean less jobs. Small businesses make up about 47% of the workforce thus logic shows raise costs fewer jobs lower costs more jobs. But the left always use the mega companies as an example of why we should raise taxes. The other thing your side forgets is make it too expensive and companies move taking the jobs with them.
The USA has the communism of Christiananality = type of existence minus America.
Incorrect. We only have to look back a few years to see.
"WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama’s 2013 tax increases for wealthy Americans neither slowed their income growth nor hurt the economy, according to a study that taps into a key debate in the current presidential race.
"The top 1 percent of earners managed to increase their share of the nation’s income at about the same pace after their taxes were raised as they had before, according to the study , released Thursday by Emmanuel Saez, an economics professor at University of California, Berkeley.
"That outcome suggests that wealthier Americans did not respond to the higher taxes by either working less or saving less, as many economists often say will happen."

According to economists*, an income of $421K/year and above puts you in the top 1%. If you are a small business owner and making over that, either you're not a small business any more, or you have more than enough to live on w/o taking away from your employees. We need to close loopholes and tax the 1%. We can also make Medicare and Social Security solvent for decades more by removing the income cap.

You forget that part of that tax increase was offset by the following.

So yes what you say is technically correct there were also tax incentives that had a large effect on the job market and economy.
So in the end, raising taxes on the 1% did not cause loss of jobs or hinder new job creation.
Back to your original statement that (D)s want to control our lives. In what ways? Wearing masks during a lethal pandemic does not equal control.
