Do the humanities need a rebrand?

ok

I know that. Never said I did.

Agreed.

If one majored in German that is what is to be expected.

I'm also very knowledgeable of the language, the history, the literature, the culture, the politics.
Anybody that immersed themselves there for three years, has friends and family there, still goes there at least once a year would be.
Ergo, a university degree is not a requirement to be knowledgeable in the language, culture, history literature, politics and I will add music. All that can be self learned.
No University will ever confer a bachelor's degree in German on you just because you have some rudimentary competency in conversational German.

Parading around this board announcing that you taught yourself the equivalent of a university bachelor's degree in German is just hubris and conceit.

You responded directly to my posts about how an actual university degree in German requires coursework in German history.

You don't have the equivalent of a bachelor's degree in German. Just having the conversational skills to order beer and bratwurst in Berlin is not even remotely enough to qualify for a bachelor's degree in German.

Universities expect their German bachelor's degree graduates to be accomplished students of Germany - and that includes the language, the history, the literature, the culture, the politics.
A bachelor's degree in German?

Stop making shit up, Cyborg.
You are becoming no better than the Pretender.

A good professor or teacher knows the subject in depth. They have already learned what you need to know on a subject. So, they act as a shortcut to learning.
No doubt that would have jump started my learning by at least a year. I don't deny that.
My wife never had classroom English. She was forced to take Russian being from the DDR.
But her English is arguably better than mine. (And her Leipzig dialect is atrocious!)

You are REALLY going to try to push this 'Bachelor's Degree in German', aren't you?

You have no idea what happens in universities.

Of course not.

I didn't say that. You said that.
Wow, you really have a complex about feellng the need to prove you're the smartest person on the board on every subject.
It really irks you that I happen to have more knowledge about something than you do.
Your jealousy that I've achieved a higher level of education than you is obvious too. Why, I have no idea. Personally I've never been impressed with how much formal education someone has.
You have serious emotional issues.

OK there's degrees in German. Happy now?
I don't have one, don't want one, don't need one.
I don't have a degree in American and I've done just fine without it.
