Some tech executives are nervous that the administration’s recent scrutiny of artificial intelligence models could be a prelude to a demand for an ownership stake.
For decades it was not controversial and was bipartisan in belief that this type of government investment and ownership in private companies that was not tied to emergencies and meant to be resold as soon as practical, came with great moral hazard.
Once a gov't makes such an investment they then do not want that company to fail and for their decision to look bad and wasteful of tax payer dollars and thus there is great incentive to award gov't contracts to them whether they are best, cheapest or even capable. This can also harm the legitimate better company in the space who is not getting that contract they deserve more. It can create a real race to the bottom.
Of course because Trump is doing it @T. A. Gardner defends it and sees nothing wrong with it, while he cries a handful of grocery stores in NYC, which will have almost no impact, are a huge hazard.
