The US Post Office vehicles in particular are ripe for replacement, with the Grumman LLV, used by the Post Office since the late 1980s, showing its age. These vehicles do short, consistent daily routes with a lot of starting and stopping, which is an ideal application for electric vehicles. The US government has been running a bidding process for several years to replace the LLV, though has pushed back the decision several times – likely in an attempt to get more serious alternative-fuel bids.

Workhorse, a company that plans to offer electric delivery vans, had been in the bidding for the contract, but the bidding process stalled. Workhorse stock (WKHS) has gone up by about 10% since Biden’s announcement today.

I was reading about a year ago that a major problem with the search of post office trucks is the demand that they keep the postal employee comfortable, even though a large window is nearly always open. Current trucks dont do that, and it is impossible for electrics to do it. Apparently until the Post Office changes the bid requirement there will be no electric trucks.

This information is old, I have not investigated today.

The post office is desperate to replace their trucks...they are old....they are expensive to operate....employees dont like them and wonder why the post office will not supply a humane and modern work environment.....this ratty shit is getting embarrassing.

Years into looking they cant find a supplier for the replacement that suits their needs.

Something to remember as we hear these proclamations on tissue paper.
 
Will the Chinese rescue/embarrass us by supplying the product?

That is something that they would do.
