At the end of the day, none of it matters outside the classroom or the Jeopardy studios except to people hell bent on finding a way to feel superior about their group over another group. It's not like a mechanic needs to be correct on whether or not somebody got swallowed by a leviathan to change your oil or replace an air sensor.

No, it's different. There is a huge difference between, for example, giving your kids the impression that your family is superior because you go to X church, not like those ppl over there who go to Y church, and those ones down the street who don't go at all -- and teaching them outright lies like humans coexisted at the same time the animals of the Cretaceous Age did. Of course, if you are content with your kids believing falsehoods like that, and never venturing off to university or (their God forbid) majoring in any of the STEM fields, fine. Some ppl *are* perfectly happy to remain ignorant.

Believe me, as one who lived for some years among fundies, they spend a lot of their time feeling superior to the rest of us. They got one foot in Heaven; the rest of us are all going to Hell. Just ask Iewitness here if you doubt that.
