GOP Senator Lisa Murkowski: ‘I just don’t know how long I can stay in this party.'

Biden has done that. It is the main reason for his low popularity. Biden steered the country through a pandemic that was killing thousands every single day. He kept NATO United through a war that threatened to engulf Europe. He managed to pass major legislation in the face of fierce opposition. And he has managed a difficult economic environment without putting us in a major recession. And what does he get for his trouble. He gets labeled a pedophile and faces a totally bogus ‘investigation’ featuring an indicted felon as their star witness. All because he has called out MAGA Republicans. Sorry but only one party is the bad guy. And they are truly and deeply lost.

2020 was a very unique election. JFK was before my time but he was very charismatic. In my lifetime Reagan, Clinton and Obama were all charismatic - hardly boring people - yet educated people backed them. In 2000 people complained because more voters wanted to have a beer with Bush than Gore. Gore was a boring technocrat. Romney was similar to Gore in that regard. Reasons to me if educated Americans wanted boring Gore and Romney would have won.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding how boring is being used vis a vis what educated voters want. On one hand we all pretty much want similar things but in this era of strong identity politics do educated voters of differing races all want the same 'boring' thing? Boring seems to imply a white dominated status quo.

I'm actually not sure what boring means either. Biden is not a great speaker, never has been. What I am coming to understand is that he is a brilliant tactician. I don't really need a lot more as a placekeeper. I want effective, and it's hard to argue that Biden has not been effective. I remember when I first started posting on a political board, and making the statement that 'we all want the same things, we just differ on how to achieve them'. I was met with a hearty 'fuck no'. And therein lies the problem. I do not believe the Trump cult (for lack of a better term) wants the same things that I do, at least not for everyone.
