How Many Died At Footbal Games Yesterday?

Think of all the herd immunity being generated lol.

Seems there’s no going back to the 2020 style mitigation—that was largely pointless. Yesterday’s game attendance should be celebrated.

All the facts showed it saved lives

But you hate facts and science

And math

And history

And living humans

Is this a prediction?

Be specific, give numbers.
There will be no way to prove a specific prediction.
Infection rates of kids in palm beach county shot up when school started and began to trend down once they did away with the opt out mask mandate.

I notice that too, full stadiums around the country, as if the pandemic was over?!! I no everyone in these football stadiums were not vaccinated either?!! Only one football team, the Las Vegas Raiders required proof of vaccination to enter their stadium, and there who team is fully vaccinated too?!! I wont be in a stadium or any other venue full of people until the pandemic is over?!!

Go RAIDERS!

Hello martin,

The permanent injuries have been noticed and an attempt is being made to learn from them and improve the safety of the game.

The players willfully choose to take those jobs.

Good attempts are being made to inform everyone of what they are getting into.

What do you suggest?

Obviously, these people are not choosing to discontinue the sport.

Should Congress attempt to outlaw football?

No suggestions. Football (which seems to me a fundamentally stupid game) will either die out on its own or it won't.

The number of Active Cases is still rising in the USA, and I would expect that to continue into the fall. Contributing factors:

1. The Sturgis Motorcycle rally super spreader event.

2. Going back to school without sufficient vaccines, masks or distancing.

3. NFL games with full stadiums and insufficient vaccine, mask nor distancing requirements.

4. States with Republican governors which have completely dropped all requirements meant to prevent COVID transmission.

5. The continued anti-vax, anti-mask rhetoric of the right wing extremists.

6. Trump and supporters of government hatred.

7. Foolish selfish misinformed people pretending there is no pandemic.

The fact that fans are outside at a live football game is a good thing to help reduce transmission.

But on the negative side are:

1. The fact that people are going to be in close proximity for hours.

2. They will be animated with screaming and yelling where lots of air will be shared.

3. If there is a no-wind day it will be worse. Conversely, a windy day would be safer, as the wind carries exhaled breath quickly away from others.

4. Alcohol sales.

5. Going to the indoor concessions and the bathrooms.

6. Entering / leaving the stadium in crowds in close proximity, through hallways and stairs.

7. An emergency stadium evacuation would be a very bad thing. A fire, earthquake, weather emergency or terrorist incident which might cause a panic in the crowd would supersede all concerns for COVID safety. Thus would almost certainly result in transmission occurring.

Hello martin,

No suggestions. Football (which seems to me a fundamentally stupid game) will either die out on its own or it won't.

Your concerns are shared by people both within the game and casual observers. It is a common concern. Football fans have changed a bit. Many Trump supporters ceased being NFL fans when Trump went after Colin Kaepernick and kneeling players for promoting equality. At the same time, many liberals who had previously not been football fans began to support the NFL simply because Trump said everyone should boycott the NFL.

It was an interesting juxtaposition.

The result has been that the NFL has taken fan concerns more seriously. Players are not to kneel during the anthem, but they may wear anti-racist messages on the backs of their helmets. Many choose to do so. Players are not required to be on the field for the anthem, and may choose to remain in the locker room if they prefer.

The NFL has made many rule changes to promote safety of the game.

One team was penalized when a player gave pass receiver an extra push in the back as he was on his way out of bounds after a reception. It was deemed to be unnecessary. The play may look violent, but it is actually very tightly controlled. The emphasis is strong on injury reduction.

Hello evince,

A football player class action suit just may kill the sport

That would appear unlikely. Nobody is forced to play against their own will and decision to participate.

College rules have just been changed to allow college players to profit from their notoriety.
