Interesting Question: Can You Be A Strong Conservative And Support Gay Marriage?

I'm pretty conservative. On just about every issue. I don't think government has any place in telling people who they can marry except for when it comes to children or people who don't have the ability to make decisions.

A gray couple getting married has literally no impact of my life. I don't care.

But it's a given that slavery and racial discrimination would still be the law of the land if the decision were based purely on the popular vote. Women wouldn't be able to vote.

For that matter, at the time the US Supreme Court struck down the laws against interracial marriages, less than 20% of the US public believed they should be legal.

A civil union would bestow identical *rights* on gay couples as traditional married couples.

Race, and who you prefer to sleep with, could hardly be more apples and oranges. It’s a ludicrous comparison that probably offends many blacks.

Yet those that claimed they were for equality when it came to same sex marriages, many arguing from the same mindset as you, quickly oppose marriages of a type they do not like. If you listen to why they say they oppose them, it's the very reasons they said were wrong when used by those that oppose same sex marriage.
