That is not how it works, the standard of evidence required for indictment is lower than the standard of evidence required for conviction, it is expected that the Senate would get more evidence. As a prosecutor I always got more evidence for the trial than they had at the indictment.

Roberts has no say about anything during a senate impeachment trial....he is but a figure head. The senators will by a simple UP/DOWN vote determine if witnesses will be called or not. The duty of the SCOTUS judge residing over the tribunal is to make sure that the RULES OF THE SENATE are adhered in an honest fashion. He is nothing but a Sgt.at Arms with no more power than that of the VP (who would break any tie in an up/down vote).

Damn you leftists are totally ignorant about anything concerning the RULE OF LAW. Its the REPUBLICAN "CACUS" that establishes the rules for this impeachment hearing....not SCOUTS. The Senate has the sole duty to conduct an impeachment trial ….SOLE: look it up. The judge is nothing but an arbitrator of the Senate Rules for Impeachment. If a majority of senators want witnesses (whoever they wish to call as material witnesses) they will get witnesses. If Roberts makes a ruling....all it would take is 51 votes to make that ruling null and void in a senate impeachment tribunal.
