I used to think that enslave humanity made no sense. The corporations need customers, and slaves would not be customers. The corporations need an educated workforce, and slaves can not be an educated workforce.
Recently I have heard many of the "tech bros" like Musk argue they do not need customers or an educated workforce. They might be right, but even if they are wrong, them believing it will make them want to enslave us.

There are certain "crimes" that have caused what they call prosecutorial discretion to exist. Statutes due to the nature of them must have strict definitions but sometimes it's obvious that prosecution is silly. Two kids who probably graduated high school together and are a few months apart in age is one of those.
You would not see in your lifetime two kids exactly like this where they are inner city blacks prosecuted for this.
