In that 40 year span, yes. I think Obama got a majority in '08.
What 40 year span was it?
Bush did in 2004. Bush Sr. did on 1988. Reagan did both times...

Yes, they can, a state can decide what happens with their electoral votes, in the case of Maine, they will go to the popular vote winner. The ELECTORAL COLLEGE is not under STATE JURISDICTION. Maine can do no such thing.
Leftidiots gobble up whatever BULLSHIT they are SPOONFED BY THEIR MASTERS, no matter HOW RIDICULOUS and/or ASININE....

Or to the winner of the national popular vote, which is what Maine has done.Absolutely they can. They can moot the electoral college by requiring all their electoral vote be counted proportionally instead of winner takes all.
Maine can certainly disenfranchise its voters. Granted this only passed the Maine Senate at this point, but if it becomes state law, then Maine doesn't need to vote for President any more. They want the rest of the country to decide for them.
How exactly does a woman you don't know, never seen or even care about effect you or you're familes life when she has an abortion?
Be specific.
One American, One Vote.
A Californian’s vote should count as equally as a Nebraskan’s vote.
Anyone can play that geography game. 70,000 people in only three medium-sized states decided for the rest of us that a dunce who got blown out in the popular vote should be allowed to be president.
A lot of small, rural red states have more cows and corn fields than people.
Cows and corn fields do not vote, and they are not entitled to representation.
The small, rural, conservative states are already given vastly disproportionate power and advantage by over-representation in the U.S. Senate and by district gerrymandering in the House.
There is no plausible need that tiny, rural states need to also be given a disproportionate advantage in presidential elections. They are given more than enough disproportionate power and representation as it is.
Well technically wouldn't Maine's votes be counted in the popular vote?

If you consider that a win, you're welcome, hope that helps your low self esteem.
Real wins must be pretty rare for you.
The founding fathers were smart enough back then to see that only leads to mob rule. It never ceases to amaze me how the intellect of Democrat Americans has diminished instead of increasing.
Yes... I am being facetious. The point is, if they went 100% for candidate A and the nation voted 50.1% to 49.9% for candidate B, then Maines electoral votes would go to the one they all disliked.
They also knew that given enough free stuff people will vote one way!
If you are that fucking stupid that you do not know what it is, you should not be commenting on it.
How does some black thug or Muslim that u have never known that gets shot killed in Detroit by a white man...how does that effect you or you're familes life?
How does some Confederate statue in Bama that u will never see and idiots scream for it to be removed.... how does that effect you or you're familes life if it not removed?
How does a baker in any state that u will never visit refuses to bake a cake for gay couple that u will never know...how does that effect you or you're familes life?

yuk yukThe ignorance of this post and those that thanked it, is astounding!

newsflash,
you can't get rid of the electoral college in your state,
you can forfeit your votes toward the election I suppose by not certifying them, but I think the electoral votes would go to the popular candidate anyway.
what a bunch of whiny nut-bags residing in that statehouse, huh?
