Moral relativism

We already agreed that there is universal, objective morality in some situations.
There is no 'universal morality'. There is no absolute morality.
There will always be debates on some questions of morality,
Most likely. Each person's morals are different, and the nature of morals is to tend to assume it is the same for everyone. When it is discovered it isn't, than the debate occurs.
especially when you're talking about religion which labels some absolutely nonsensical things as immoral, but other things can be labeled as universally immoral... like FGM, child sex crimes, etc.
There is no 'universal moral'.
There is no 'absolute moral'.
A law is not a moral.

Your morals don't come from any god or gods. They are created by you and you alone.
It matters not whether God exists or not here, other than that you are here and alive and able to create your own morals.
Please provide a clear account of the state of affairs that obtained immediately before the "Big Bang.."

Thank you for your time.

You've opened up an interesting can of philosophical paradox. We can assume that there is an absolute truth, and we can equally assume that no one knows what it is (Goedel's Incompleteness Theorem).
There is an absolute Truth, but it occurs in logic, when an equation produces a True.
You are correct in referring to the so-called 'Universal Truth'.

The weakness of the English language. The word 'true' means different things in different contexts.

The word 'truth' derives from proto-Germanic 'treuwaz', meaning 'faith', 'or firm, solid, steadfast'. In other words, such Truth itself is derived from an individuals morals.

It ALSO means the result of an equation in logic producing a True. This holds throughout logic, a system described by axioms, just as a '1' is described by axioms of mathematics.

Ergo, what does one's belief about that which no one knows determine whether one has reason to remain a living, STRIVING, human being?
His own morals, and/or his own religious beliefs.
Way too funny! You have declared that he has no reason to remain a living, STRIVING, human being, and now you are asking why he hasn't already blown his brains out. Awesome!

The best part is that you did all this because he holds a different belief from yours, i.e. whether or not there is an absolute truth! I appreciate the good, hearty laugh. That was amazing. Thank you.
Precisely.

you are the moral relativist.

:truestory:

some laws are based on morality, some laws are just based coordinating large numbers of people, like traffic laws.
A law is not a moral.
A law can be a result of a simple declaration of a dictator who uses his morals (if any), or it can be the result of a consensus of people that may each vote for that law according to their own morals.

Even traffic laws occur this way.

some laws are based on mere coordination.

PONTIOUS PILATE (sneering): WHAT is TRUTH ?!

JESUS: of NAZARETH: "I am the way, I am THE TRUTH, I am the light."

Problem solved, Colourful Parrot..

A moral is not an opinion.
There is an absolute truth in logic, which you ignore.
There is no such thing as an absolute moral.
You do not get declare your morals as absolute for everyone. Omniscience fallacy.
"There is no such thing as an absolute moral"
Other than repeating that line incessantly you have offered no evidence to its vracity. Therefore it is an opinion. When I apply your reasoning, there is no such thing as absolute moral(sic) to opinions, your reasoning makes just as much sense. Please stop acting like a leftist I know better than that with you.

BTW they arent my morals they are the morals of every mentally healthy person.

No. It begins with you.
A right is not a moral.
The word 'moral' does not appear in the Declaration of Independence.
No it begins with every mentally healthy human being
I didnt suggest they were. Instead of raging, read.
I didnt suggest it did. Again read dont rage

you are the moral relativist.
You, sir, are mistaken. I am a moral Relativity-ist. Energy = morality * c^2. Your morality becomes immoral by the right-dilation of my ethical frame of reference. The absolute truth remains the same to all observers, but no observer can ever achieve absolute hero.
