My father was an NCO in the Texas National Guard with the 36th quartermaster company communications section, 36th Infantry Division, prior to WW 2 and was promoted to Captain (brevet) by 1945 working in the cryptographic section of headquarters 6th Army at the Presidio in San Francisco.

Another firm believer in denigrating our veterans... You seem to forget that 80% of the those in the US military in WW 2 never saw combat. They were doing jobs that let the other 20% fight the war. That includes engineers who built the bases they fought from, the personnel in admin, communications, and other skilled trades that made worldwide combat possible. They did their jobs, the ones they were assigned to do and you shit on them.
