Nick Sandman getting rich

Decriminalizing drugs would help, but legalizing drugs would be a mistake.

Why a mistake to legalize? Why not treat it like alcohol and tobacco? What's the difference?

Additionally, do you not see the pragmatism in allowing nature take its course by allowing the human herd to winnow itself out through drugs? It's why I'm also against seatbelt and helmet laws for adults. We should allow stupid people every opportunity to remove themselves from the gene pool to prevent spread of "Idiocracy".

Both were publicly demonized but you don't see Nathan Phillips trying to shake down the media for hundred of millions.

That's because he doesn't have high-priced, well-financed RW scumbags lawyers willing to do the shaking. If Nikkie is paying anything for this then it's just the obligatory dollar bill to ensure lawyer-client privilege.

Left or Right, spin is spin and demonizing is demonizing. The fact you retreated into personal attacks instead of discussing the problem indicates you have reached the limits of your ability to discuss this as an adult.

I do hate political correctness; you're the one who brought it up with your demonization bullshit.

Sorry, it was a minor slight and not meant to be a big issue. I was actually genuinely curious about this.

The demonization isn't bullshit though. Sandmann had plenty of cause for suing these broadcasters. I just don't understand why you would sympathize with corporate media organizations over the rights of a minor.

The scary part is the ‘root cause’ could be nothing more than an alcohol induced lapse in judgment for some young people. Get a little too much Tequila on board on a wild night—get mixed up with some wrong people. A hot girl talks a young dude into ‘trying it once’. Etc.

It’s literally a mine field for young people. I see people who were at one time good kids from good families that had their lives destroyed from it. A friend of mine in healthcare lost her life from abusing Fentanyl. She was one of the last people anyone expected to be an opiate junkie. Another one lost her license on account of it. It’s tragic. Legalizing it won’t stop that aspect.

This is true. I don't think the government can save everybody from things like this, and I don't believe that the current War on Drugs accomplishes much in terms of preventing these things from happening. However, I do think that, because the focus of decriminalization is on rehab, this policy structure seems better suited for at least helping people that get pulled into these situations.

I agree about reparations, but I think you're a little off base on health care.

No civilized people would refuse a sick or injured person some basic level of health care. I don't think anyone is suggesting totally free, unlimited hospitalization, non-emergency care or surgery, expensive treatment or physical therapy etc.

But if some illegal has an urgent need for some kind of medical intervention, as a civilized society we're basically honor bound to provide it.

Otherwise, we'd be not much better than North Korea.

Keeping in mind that, contrary to the average conservative's mindset, there are more important things in life than money.

There are more important things than money -- things like freedom of choice. The state should not have the right to force me to serve someone, regardless of payment. If a person voluntarily chooses to serve someone without payment, that's fine, because there is no government coercion involved. People can have this honor on a personal level if they choose to.

What you're talking about is the state forcing people to make a choice. There's nothing honorable about that. And state coercion is actually a far better representation of North Korea.

I hope no company wants to touch him with a ten foot pole.

I hope he ends up blacklisted from any decent corporate position or at least from any significant advancement.

Fuck that smirking, spoiled rotten, entitled little bastard.

When you were 15, if someone had beat a drum in your face while acting like a crazy idiot, what would your response have been?

I'd say a smirk involved way more self-control than most teenagers have.

Nathan Phillips is the sort of person that needs a few slaps to modify his behavior.

Phillips wasn't demonized. Hell, he was given fairly positive coverage until his stunt at the church a day or so later.

Phillips is like a lot of activist types. He's an attention whore.

Whats with all the hate towards a young kid that was PROVEN to have done nothing wrong? Some of you people are really sick. So the kid simply by being innocent totally shatters the narrative the left wing media tried to push and you despise him for it? It was o.k for the media to lie about him but not o.k for the kid to be PROVEN innocent? Fuck you weirdo pieces of shit!

Good points.

If you're talking about pot, then maybe. The state would need to make sure the supply chain was separated from any criminal elements, however.

Legalizing heroin, meth, and cocaine are non-starters, however.

Additionally, do you not see the pragmatism in allowing nature take its course by allowing the human herd to winnow itself out through drugs? If we had that policy in combination with eliminating the welfare state, I suppose I'd be on board. However, as long as the welfare state exists, having this sort of stance would just result in more people living on disability.

Hey!!!! If the kid gets enuff dough maybe he too can get his very own cement block house!

It's probably because he's a white conservative. If he was a minority and liberal, he'd be a media darling.

And political orientation is more significant than race in this. Look at the disparity in coverage between the Parkland kids that supported more gun control vs. the ones that supported gun rights.

Basically, if you support media-approved narratives, you get the good coverage. If you support the other side, you get demonization and sometimes even doxxed.

Dude, the entire conversation was over your claim of demonization. You see it only when it's a person wearing a MAGA hat. When it's someone else like Heather Heyer or a black politician, you look the other way.

Heather Heyer wasn't demonized by most of the media. Sandmann was.

What I see is that most of the media leans left. That's the reason for the disparity.

If most of the media leaned right, then this discussion would be entirely different.
