Spare me the lesson on Russian weapons and China's military spending, please. Your afraid Russian and China will conspire to attack the u.S. militarily. Sounds like ahobia to me, ... russiaphobia. The perceived threat and fear of a Russia or Chines military attack has frozen presidents for years. For instance the faux fear of China has been used as an excuse to let NK do whatever it wants (until Trump). And now, you are pushing the marrative that Russia is going to attack us over trade wars, or start a war over the Kersch Straits.

Merkel is under mounting pressure from members of her conservative party to suspend the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, a huge project to double Russian gas exports to Germany that is more than 90% complete and due to start operating from early 2021.

German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said in remarks published on Sunday that Russia must help clear up the circumstances around the poisoning of Alexei Navalny or face the possibility of Germany withdrawing its support for Nord Stream 2.

Asked on Monday if Merkel agreed with Maas, who is from her junior coalition partner the Social Democrats (SPD), on the pipeline, her spokesman Steffen Seibert said:

Natural gas can be piped into homes eliminating all that vehicular transportation. It has no--ZERO--ash or residue unlike wood pellets. It gives more BTUs per unit mass than wood pellets. Wood pellets are neither Green nor efficient. They are a stupid alternative.
