Obama administration sought to "destroy Donald Trump" prior to the 2016 election.

The amusing thing about this "fantasy" (delusion) is that it reveals an unsatisfied expectation.
And while having an expectation satisfied can feel quite rewarding, this expectation expressed in IA #33 will go unsatisfied. And that is the definition of frustration.
So those of us with more sober temperament, more logical more realistic thought process, more rational expectation can sit back and be entertained and amused by the growing frustrations of the eternally unsatisfied. Kind of cute I suppose.

Some of us have been amused for over a year now lol.

Susan Rice's odd "Obama said do it by the book" last second memorial to herself the day of Trump's inauguration
is a clue how far this goes.

It’s hard to figure out what the Obama law enforcement and intelligence folks had to gain by spying.

Well, yes. But the central claim here is that the FBI, despite having no indications of wrongdoing, spied on the Trump campaign for political information which could be passed to the Democrats.

That is what the author, conservative commentator Barone, wants to have happened, but what does he base it on? Were agents caught breaking into Trump Tower? Did the DNC act on intelligence they were given? Did Deep Throat II sic the media on to the story? In short, where is the evidence?

Oh yes. Trump said his tower was wiretapped (the British did it as a favor). Trump said there was a spy inside his campaign, the yoogest scandal ever! And Trump always tells the truth, doesn't he?

So that's the latest Trump line.

The FBI investigation of Trump-Russia collusion, which started in July 2016 backed by the entire IC, was a re-run of Watergate. Obama ordered it to obtain political intelligence for the Democrats.

That's what Trump says, and all his eager helpers down to obscure message boards are dutifully repeating it.

Bottom line: Mueller should STFU and quit.

a) That would be extremely out of character for Obama.
- Is there any record of Obama having done such thing when he ran for the Illinois legislature?
- Is there any record of Obama having done such thing when he ran for the U.S. senate?
- Is there any record of Obama having done such thing when he ran for president?

In each of those cases those Obama ran against posed a risk to Obama. If Obama did so then, why is no one mentioning it?
And if Obama didn't do it then, why:
- after Obama was term-limited, and unable to continue in office past inauguration day, that means Obama was
- not under threat of Trump, or anyone else.
- The candidate predicted to win was not Trump, but Hillary. So why would Obama have gone after the one predicted to lose?

This is absurd.

It is completely out of character for Obama... but Trump has had a reputation for 40 years of being vengeful... Further, Trump is a well known whiner who complains the system is rigged against him.

Andy must have liked the insurance policy lol.

Is there any doubt Obama was aware of this? Shouldn’t he at least be interviewed?

For someone that is supposedly so smart and had his hand on the pulse of the nation while President, why is it when things like this happen his supporters quickly jump to his defense claiming ignorance about what was going on?

You mean like whining about Russian collusion despite no evidence of it?

Correct, trump has a long track record of sleaziness which his supporters ignore and they wonder why people disrespect them...idiots.

" trump has a long track record of sleaziness which his supporters ignore " k #48

“You claim the mantle of the party of family values, and this is the guy you nominate”. President Obama commenting on the Republican party's nomination of Donald Trump (during headline news of Trump boasting about inappropriate behavior w/ women) FOX / Google 16/10/13

Trump has always been very vocal about being motivated by revenge against his perceived enemies on people who wouldn't bail him out of some of his failed projects... and clearly he wants to get revenge on Obama for making him look like a horse's ass.

Trump is sleazy alright.

Hello Legion,

I didn't say they "never thought he would win" and the "FBI investigation was just an insurance policy". Obama and Peter Strzok said it.

You think President Obama said that the: "FBI investigation was just an insurance policy?"

Why would anybody think that?

Is there some sort of quote of him saying that which has been taken out of context?

May we please see a source for that?

You misunderstand which individual said what. I suspect you did so intentionally.

“Strzok: I want to believe the path you threw out for consideration in Andy’s office - that there’s no way he gets elected - but I’m afraid we can’t take that risk,” Strzok texted on Aug. 15, 2016. “It’s like an insurance policy in the unlikely event you die before you’re 40.”

Strzok: And hi. Went well, best we could have expected. Other than [REDACTED] quote: “the White House is running this.”

Obama: "Donald Trump will not be president."

Hello Legion,

Remember Watergate?

The crime at the root of Watergate was an attempt at surveillance of the DNC after George McGovern seemed about to win the DEMOCRAT Party’s presidential nomination, just as the government misconduct in Russiagate was an attempt at surveillance of the Republican Party’s national campaign after Trump clinched its nomination.

In both cases, the incumbent administration regarded the opposition’s unorthodox nominee as undermining the nation’s long-standing foreign policy and therefore dangerous to the country.

McGovern renounced the DEMOCRATS’ traditional Cold War policy.

Trump expressed skepticism about George W. Bush and Obama administration policies on NATO, Mexico, Iran and Russia.

The incumbents’ qualms had some rational basis. But their attempts at surveillance were misbegotten. It’s hard to figure out what the Obama law enforcement and intelligence folks had to gain by spying.

Neither the Obama spy nor Mueller’s investigation has presented evidence of Trump collusion with Russia.

None of Mueller’s indictments points in that direction, and Trump’s foreign policy over 16 months has been far less favorable to Russia than Obama’s.

Both the Watergate wiretap and the Obama appointees’ investigator/spy infiltration were initially inspired amid fears that the upstart opposition might win.

In March 2016, it was conventional wisdom that Trump couldn’t be elected president. But his surprising and persistent strength in the Republican primaries left some doubtful, including the FBI lovebirds who instant messaged their desire for an “insurance policy” against that dreaded eventuality.

Their unease may have owed something to their knowledge of how the Obama Justice Department and FBI had fixed the Hillary Clinton emails case. Clinton wasn’t indicted.

There are two obvious differences between Watergate and the Obama administration’s infiltration. The Watergate burglars were arrested in flagrante delicto, and their wiretaps never functioned. Neither the FBI nor the CIA cooperated with the Watergate cover-up.

That’s quite a contrast with the Obama law enforcement and intelligence appointees’ promotion of Christopher Steele’s Clinton campaign-financed dodgy dossier and feeding the mainstream media’s insatiable hunger for Russia collusion stories.

Has an outgoing administration ever worked to delegitimize and dislodge its successor like this?

Oh good grief. You believe this trash? The Post is a tabloid. They are going to tweak stories for the most emotion they can squeeze out of them. Here's a great line out of that story:

"But neither the Obama informant/spy nor Robert Mueller’s investigation has presented additional evidence of Trump collusion with Russia."

Did you catch that? 'Additional?' As if the evidence already presented isn't enough to cause anyone to think there might just be some hanky panky going on there. 'Additional evidence,' indeed. ~rolling eyes~

So the big skew away from the truth here is that the story leads you to believe that President Obama ordered the FBI to do what they FBI was doing. But they don't say that in so many words. They 'let you' believe it by implying it:

"Both the Watergate wiretap and the Obama appointees’ investigator/spy infiltration were initially inspired amid fears that the upstart opposition might win."

Did you catch that one, too?

They said: "Obama appointees’ investigator/spy infiltration.'

They didn't say Obama ordered that. All Obama did was select those people for the jobs they were doing. And they all had to be approved by the Senate. This article doesn't say Obama ordered any of this, or that there is any suspicion that he did! All it does is suggest it; in a most deceptive way.

If the FBI thinks there is a crime going on, the FBI is going to investigate. They don't care which party, in the administration, out of the administration, they are going to investigate it. That's what they are supposed to do. We WANT them to do that. That prevents people from harming the USA. Whether our enemies be foreign or domestic.

If you think President Obama is going to be swept up in an investigation similar to Watergate, dream on. Very creative, I must say, but absolutely not going to happen in a million years. That sounds like desperation, over trying so hard to believe that Trump is not the one at the center of a huge Watergate-sized scandal and investigation.

The lesson to be learned from Watergate is that it took 2 years before it was all completed.

Mueller may finish up the obstruction investigation by September, (according to Giuliani) but there is no time limit on how long he could take for the full investigation. And Mueller has not made any public statements about how long the investigation will take. I don't see how anybody can put a completion estimate on something which involves an unknown amount of work.

Obama is guilty of no wrongdoing. That is a mere right wing pipe dream. It's fake news, meant to pull at your emotions and those of everyone who very strongly opposes President Obama. It's not real.

If anything, the opposite is true.

You know, millions of other people look at this whole thing and rightfully say: 'Why didn't the outgoing Obama administration do MORE to shut down the Russian collusion if they already knew about it during the summer of 2016?'

Perhaps there was no collusion between Trump and the Russians.

Trump hasn't been suspected of spying on anyone's campaign using federal resources, has he?

The source is the text messages.

Though Strzok doesn’t specify what ‘the insurance policy’ is, it’s abundantly clear from the context that it was a contingency to be put in place in case Trump won the election.

That sounds like EXACTLY what the right wing wants to happen!

Isn't that amazing?

It's like this big giant coincidence!

Imagine; such a fantastic coincidence.

Wow. Sure is amazing.

Why, such news could hardly be better for them!

It's almost like they just dreamed it up...

:rofl2:
