Wow. I'm sorry. I thought we could have some fun testing each other's wit in a mutually respectful way.
I was hoping for some challenging intellectual exchange.
A little back and forth, each taking the other's points at face value, your understanding and logic against my understanding and logic.
A marvelous way to expand one's political awareness while gaining insight into an opposing view. It is so stimulating when you meet another who can come up with a wry angle to make you question yourself and your beliefs. I do so enjoy that. I thought maybe we had that going on. Maybe I was wrong.
I have no interest in a game which includes taking posts completely out of context.
I don't have to win at all costs, even if I lie to myself, tell myself that I am arguing honestly. That is so false.
Maybe we don't both feel the same way about that.
No, what it means is I caught you in a self-contradiction, so instead of facing up to your mistake, you've concocted one you're pretending I made.

Very creative! You matched the word 'it' from two of my posts and made it sound like I was contradicting myself as if the 'it' in each post was referring to the same thing. Only that's not the case.
Only problem is the 'it' in each post is referring to different things. I didn't make these two statements back to back, but the way you plucked them out of their original context, and placed them together, makes it sound like I first said one thing, and then said the complete opposite. Very creative indeed.

You could expand on that and take single words out of the posts of an adversarial poster, put them all together, and cause him to say anything you him to!
Or simply re-write the post of another person to cause it to look like they said something you could easily refute.
Why don't you go that far?
Maybe it is because if you begin to try to control what the other person says, even a little, by cherry-picking phrases and placing them in a different context, you are not really arguing against what the other person says, but some imaginary version of it which you control.
And that's disingenuous.
It amounts to controlling both sides of a conversation.

You said Obama said something; and later claimed he didn't actually say that. Instead of playing these games and causing me to want to place you on Ignore, you should have simply admitted the mistake and learned from the experience. That would have been the right thing to do. The humiliation of admitting fault is actually a good thing. That way, you learn from mistakes and get wiser.
If you never admit mistakes, then you hold yourself back from higher learning. It's no fun to get caught in a self-contradiction, no. But the bright side is self-improvement. If you admit it.
If you don't the downside is self-fooling. And that's sad. I hate to see that happen. You have a marvelous mind. Don't hold yourself back. Own up to it if you make a mistake. It's not the end of the world. It's human. Everybody makes mistakes. And people actually think more of you if you do this than if you play games and avoid it. Trying to pretend somebody else made a mistake instead of admitting you did is ultimately limiting your own intellect.
