Officials want to clear a mile-long homeless camp on a Sonoma County bike trail. Some

PROVE IT GOMER! OR STFU!

When you determine how programs designed to help the homeless are funded, you'll have your proof.

Guess you need to STFU or start personally helping those for which you claim to care by inviting them into your home. Do that or STFU about others helping them.

I haven't announced who I think needs to or even has the funds to help the homeless, Country Fan and Banjo MAN!

I know, I have certainly had to cut back on contributing to charity organizations and organ drives etc. since I retired and now living on a limited income myself.

Now, I have a few friends and associates that are struggling financially right now that I know, because they frequent the same Biker/Musician Club I am a member of. I've hooked some up with employment opportunities, and contracted them to do some work for me in the past, bought them drinks, and loaned them some small amounts of money before. But that's about all I can do anymore to help them.

But, why you attacking me? I haven't even said anything derogatory to anything you've said here.

DId I say something that triggered you? WHAT THEN?

I remember there used to be some police show on TV back in the 50's called the Naked City. It had a monologue that started out with, "There are 9 million different stories in New York etc.............

Well, it is true that 9 million people would have 9 million different stories, so it made some kind of sense.

About 40 years ago I was attending classes after work at the County College, and after a long day one day, I decided to dive into one of the bars across the street from the college, AND HAVE MYSELF A BEER! LOL!

I was there drinking my beer, and a stumble bum pulled up a barstool and as he sat down beside me, he asked, "Could you buy an old drunk a beer"?

I was a bit surprised by all this sudden predicament but I said, "OK- But only if you tell me what has led you to being a bum".

He pulled out his wallet and pulled out a business card and handed it to me. The card said so and so ATTORNEY AT LAW from one of the well know Dallas Law firms.

I asked him, "Is that you"? And he said, "Well it used to be me" So I asked him, "What happened to that"? THIS WAS HIS STORY.....

He said, he used to have a beautiful wife and two sons, a nice home in Highland Park, and everything he could possibly want. He said he bought one of those nice cigarette boats and he used to take it to Lake Texhoma and cruise the lake with his family. One day, he hit a wake wrong and flipped the boat over, throwing everyone out in the water, and no one was wearing any life vests. He could see his wife about 10 feet away and struggling, his sons were in the other direction 20 feet away and they looked like they were drowning. Well, somehow, his wife and both his sons drowned that day and he somehow managed to save himself.

He said it went downhill from there because he started drinking, turned into an alcoholic, and ended up losing his job, his home, and everything he owned but the clothes he was wearing.

I've kind of looked at bums a little differently since then. And since then, I've heard some rather sad stories from some of these bums- always about alcohol or drugs somewhere in the mix.

So he ultimately made bad choices is what you are saying?

If the story is true, it is definitely a tragedy. I am surprised that you hadn't heard of that story back then. I would suspect such a high profile person in such a small community with a story that tragic would be in the news. But, hey maybe you weren't paying attention.

Tragedy doesn't excuse bad decision making. But, if it makes you feel compassionate, who am I to criticize right?

It is amazing that the leftists are missing the donkey in the room and that all of this homelessness and squalor is occurring in Commiefornistan which is a state that is run top to bottom by the democrat party. But, I guess when you are a democrat, democrats are never responsible.

Maybe it is Putin's fault?

Yet you have.

Are you going on record saying that taxpayer funded programs should be eliminated?

I don't think we should do that! END THE FRAUD AND I'D BE HAPPY!

I believe that when you have necessary taxpayer funded programs like the IRS, Social Security, Medicare, Welfare etc, you have to fund them in a manor at which you can investigate them, police them, eliminate the fraud and abuse that gets out of control- just because the funds are not there to manage them properly.

I think it's a damn shame we even have homeless in this country?!! Coming up in the 50's, 60's, and 70's, I never did see any homeless people?!!

There is a reason you didn't see this back then. We had State mental institutions back then. The Progressive left then declared them evil and wrong and proclaimed they had a better idea. Yeah, now we let them fend for themselves in our streets, underpasses and bike trails amid filth, third world diseases and crime.

Gotta love it when Progressives have these great ideas eh?

Not all the homeless are mentally ill but there is a fair number of them. I thought this interesting why there could have been less homeless on the street way back when. They were living in hospitals.

""Deinstitutionalization of the mentally ill has roots in the civil rights and civil liberties movements of the 1960s, which envisioned more fulfilling lives for those who had been languishing in understaffed psychiatric hospitals through new medications and robust community-based services. The number of patients living in state hospitals dropped from 535,000 in 1960 to 137,000 in 1980.""

.....there are a lot of difficulties in getting a job without a home.

The most successful policy they have found to get rid of homeless is Housing First. Trying to solve other problems (mental health, drug addiction, employment) when homeless is almost impossible. If you get them into housing first, everything else will often fall into place. All other policies have less than a 10% success rate, but Housing First has over a 90% success rate. It really is magical.

BUT, our minds rebel against giving someone who refuses to deal with their other problems free housing. It does not seem right.

That won't solve anything. I guess you don't remember Cabrini Greens and all the other 60's and 70's housing projects Progressives touted as poverty solutions, but then demolished when they became rat and crime infested cesspools.

I've told this story many times, and many of my friends tell me that the man could have been lying to me- JUST PLAYING ME FOR A DRINK.

But, his picture was on his card and he had tears in his eyes when he told me about losing his family and him feeling personally responsible for their deaths and all.

Man, I used to work all day, and go to school at night back in those days, and no- I didn't really have the time to keep up with local news stories that much.

That means you have announced who you think need to do it.

What makes you says those are necessary programs? Where does the Constitution authorize them?

Why are you opposed to those earning it keeping it?

Why should a person that won't feed HIS kids expect others that aren't the parents to feed them?

I leave what other people feel appropriate to what they can give to charities completely up to them without judgment of any kind.

I just know that welfare and food stamps in particular are way out of control, basically overwhelmed by fraud and abuse.

I am like you in that I want to see the fraud and abuse eliminated.

Oh come on, don't tell us you are a Constitutionalist now?

Because serious Constitutionalists are really concerned right now about Donald Trump- and you certainly don't seem to be worried about that!
