Oregon LEGALIZES ALL DRUGS even heroin, cocaine, and meth!!

Decriminalization is very different than making something legal, and IMHO it is the WORST of the three options. It does nothing to address the underlying criminal activity that led to the person possessing those small amounts of drugs. Agree with annatta that it should be legalized and controlled by the state. The goal should be first eliminate the criminal activity associated with transporting and distributing the drugs, and making sure the drugs that are available do not contain other harmful substances.

A medical marijuana card eases lots of stress. Just sayin'.

As long as I'm not paying for their healthcare I don't care if people take drugs.

But you will be.

The new law funds "treatment" (including board and lodging) for drug users, and the money will come from state funds initially. Then federal dollars will start swirling down the drain when Oregon runs out of pot money.

It’s not like what we have been attempting for decades now has produced great results, let Oregon try it and judge the results

If they had been invented last week, they'd be illegal too...

Not if the progressives had their way.

A lot of them want tobacco be be illegal, BTW.

The government uses your tax dollars to mount a campaign against the evil weed because "public health":

Ironically, it's now no longer a crime for people to shoot heroin and smoke meth in Oregon.

It's not like there's a choice, Anchovies, The law is in effect.

There's zero evidence that decriminalization reduces addiction, heath impacts, or crimes associated with drug abuse, AFAIK.

It does lead to considerable public "investment" in the "drug treatment" industry.

The Swiss now supply addicts with "free" drugs that taxpayers foot the bill for.

Poor Anchovies.

How come you don't take the same attitude toward the War on Poverty, Anchovies?

I'll understand if you try to claim that worked, of course.

Poor Anchovies.

They'll have to hire an army of hitmen to compete with the cartels that will move there first... Why make the stuff in Mexico when you can do it in Oregon and not even have to use illegals to mule across the border?

It's still illegal to make or sell drugs (unless you are a licensed marijuana dealer).

But yet they have no problem with marijuana that's smoked and has roughly triple the carcinogens of tobacco in it when combusted...

"Leftists never understand that criminals are people who don't obey the law, do they?"

One of the dumbest statements. Holy shit. :rofl2:

That's being stupid. Druggies drive cars and endanger you and your family. And besides, you probably are paying for their healthcare since they are likely on medicaid and everybody can get free healthcare at ERs.
