That's ass backwards. It is the Left that are the authoritarians every time. Stalin collectivized the farms and factories. He formed worker's Collectives, with trusted subordinates running them to dominate the economy.

Here's a scenario--thought experiment--for you:
A Leftist government creates universal, government run, healthcare. You pay nothing to use that system but do pay 50% of your earnings to subsidize it. The quality is indifferent and the service is poor.
Society as a whole decides by vote that the system sucks and wants it eliminated in favor of a market driven healthcare system.
The question to you is: What does government do in response to that vote? Do they disband and hand over control of a huge chunk of the economy, tens of thousands of jobs, etc., and privatize the system? Or do they proclaim they can make the current system better, ignore the popular vote, and raise taxes to 70% to pay for improvements in the current, government run, system even if it gets little or no better?
Which happens based on historical results?

Here's my own hypothetical (and more reality based) scenario for YOU...
A Leftist government creates universal, government run, healthcare. You pay nothing to use that system but do pay a sliding scale percentage of your earnings to subsidize it. The quality, like our current system, isn't perfect and the service as with everything else in life, could be better. But it's far from intolerable. Private health insurance companies partner with the government to handle paying patients' bills. Hospitals and Drs offices continue to hire, train and pay their employees with the government reimbursing them.
But... predictably the constantly bitching, complaining, always dissatisfied with the "dang ol' gub'mint" right-wing idiot half of society as a whole, after being led around by their noses by the propaganda of their greedy, profit oriented elected MAGA Republican officials, decides by vote that the system "sucks" and wants it eliminated in favor of a market driven healthcare system that has already been proven to be inadequate in delivering health care to everyone.
The question to YOU is: What does government do in response to that vote? Do they just throw their hands in the air, give up, disband and hand over control of a huge chunk of the economy, and privatize the system? Or do they rightfully proclaim that with the right tweaks and adjustments, they can continue to make the current system better and better and better.
Something that could have been done with Obamacare had not the greedy, political control freak right stood in the way and blocked every effort at every turn with the express purpose of forcing it to fail.
Then, taking a page out of trump's playbook, they tell the the right-wing opposition to fuck off, ignore their "popular vote", and rule by decree.
Finally, rather than raise taxes on workers, to pay for improvements in the government run, system, they cut wasteful spending in the form of huge tax give aways to the ultra wealthy, wasteful military and other pork barrel spending, and force the gun industry to pay into a fund created for the reimbursement of the huge amounts of healthcare dollars that get spent treating injuries caused by their product.

Except you do pay. You pay through taxes. As with virtually all universal systems in existence today, there is no 'service on demand.' Instead, you are either scheduled for an appointment weeks to months out, or you sit and wait, potentially all day, to be seen.
Worse, the system is very much hit and miss in quality. Rationing of many services the government deems too expensive to produce more of is present. The government also hires providers, workers, etc., based on a fixed level of pay so quality suffers. There is little or no incentive to innovate since this costs more money up front.
In the end, your healthcare quality is lower than in a free market system even if it is far more affordable.
Our current system sucks primarily because government interference, not for lack of it. The one sector of healthcare that is really generally affordable is cosmetic and elective surgery and procedures because health insurance and government do not cover it for patients. It is pay-as-you-go.
If government runs healthcare, they refuse to give up that power and make minor adjustments to the current system claiming these fixed the problems. They ignore the vote, and carry on as before. You get fucked by government.
It wasn't those opposed to Obamacare that caused it to fail. It was Obamacare itself. It was quite literally designed to fail from the outset and those that pointed that out before it passed were proved correct once it did.
