When I think of political correctness I see it as being polite.
Being polite seems to have fallen out of fashion, but I like it. I like being polite, and I like it when others are polite to me. That's nice. I like nice. I have no problem discussing nearly any topic with anybody, even if they feel very differently from me. I just don't like nasty arguments. Makes me feel lousy. I like to feel good, so I don't want to be in nasty arguments. So much stress! Who needs the stress? We've got plenty of stress in this life we have created for ourselves. We sure don't need to invent more.
Besides. Stress makes you old. Look at anybody who takes the job of president. Every single time, they come out of the office and they look way older than they went in. Looks like 2X the natural aging. I think there are a lot of people in this country who could do a far better job of president, but they are so smart they don't want the job. They know enough to stay away from it. It sure can't be any fun. There is no way to please everybody, but everybody expects you to create the world in the fashion they want to see it. It can't be done. A president is always going to have a lot of people focusing their anger upon him. And you can't have a private life, can't just go out on the town or enjoy a nice meal in a restaurant, go to a concert. Nothing. Gotta have the cadre of SS around all the time, always there will be somebody trying to kill you. It's no wonder we get these egocentric people who want the job. I don't want a life where I need body guards.
I didn't get that Bernie is like that. I see him as a dedicated public servant who just wants to do good and is willing to sacrifice his own personal life to give what he can to the country. We messed up big time when we didn't support him in even greater numbers than we did. It is encouraging that he came so close. Maybe next time.
