We're at war? The United States is engaged in an active military conflict with Iran following strikes that began in February 2026, though Congress has not formally declared war. Tensions and active standoffs remain high in the Strait of Hormuz following the expiration of a temporary regional agreement

The NAVY has long been pushed too far, been running at too high an optempo.....been assigned too many missions....one of the main problems is that the shipyards are a clusterfuck in part because they were cut too much as part of the "peace dividend"....on any given day far too many ships are not available.

Lots of people warned at the time that this would be a disaster....around the year 2000 is when it really kicked in.

Its not all about Trump.....the problems run far deeper than that.

We have spent over 20 years not fixing the shipyard problem....it was clear 20 years ago that the shrinkage plan was a bad idea, I was reading about it at the time.....nothing was done.....Obama gets some of the blame.

The Lincoln and its more than 5,000 personnel arrived in the Middle East in January, after leaving its home port of San Diego in November, according to MS NOW.

Trump launched the war against Iran without congressional approval on February 28 and initially said it would last four to five weeks. On Wednesday, he said a deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and help end the war could be announced this week, according to The Associated Press.

Navy veteran Brett Snow, whose son is also on the Lincoln, warned that conditions on the ship could lead to disaster, noting that an aircraft carrier was an extremely hazardous workplace even during peacetime.

“It’s the most dangerous place in the world already, and now you’re grinding it out, day in and day out, with no breaks,” Snow said. “It’s an environment that’s ripe for accidents.”
