SCHOOL SHOOTING, multiple victims-CA (doesn't even warrant 'honorable' mention here?)

The usual paranoia about guns and your reference to "rich countries" is just an admission that gun control laws are irrelevant and that other factors are what count. Note that the U.S. has one of the lowest homicide rates in the Americas and the loosest gun laws. Our homicide rate is also below the world average. Your gun laws have done nothing but get a few more people killed.

Barbarous dumps have far fewer guns than you, but no laws that work, as a result of colonialism. You know of course that you are talking utter bullshit: your gun-murder rate is more in a week than ours in a year. Give up the drugs, kid.

More paranoia. Our problem isn't guns, but significant wealth inequality. You'll find a stronger correlation between that and violent crime than you will with gun laws.

|You don't have any serious gun laws, only local ordnances that can't work- just the NRA. Poverty produces crime in imitation of the rich, but it need never be violent.

NO DUDE!

JUST DO AWAY WITH LAWS-

SINCE laws don't have any affect on anything- and are rendered useless and all- ACCORDING TO YOUR MENTALITY!

Let's do away with the assault law- AND MAYBE SOMEONE MIGHT WALK UP AND KNOCK THE FUCK OUT OF YOU FOR GENERAL PRINCIPLES! LOL!

just tell me.....what new law should California have passed to prevent this incident.....

But, that was a different time. As students, we just seemed more like adults when it came to guns, automobiles, jobs, manners, and responsibilities back in those days. High schoolers today seem like little kids as compared to who we were back then as basically young adults.

damn those gun laws for causing that..

My town was so redneck back in the late 60's when I finished High School, we had rifle racks in our pickups and went around with loaded deer rifles and shotguns hanging from the rear window. So basically the High School parking lot was full of loaded weapons. No one ever shot anyone. I never even saw any horseplay with guns- from any student.

I went to high school in the early 60s, not long before you, and we owned guns living in the middle of the city. I had a Remington 40XB in .220 Swift and a Ruger M44 .44 Magnum carbine to name a couple. What we didn't ever do is shoot the guns in the middle of the city. Since we drove cars, not trucks, we didn't bring our guns to school, either.

I understand your point, Dolph, and although I don't endorse your fondness for child beating, I agree that guns are inanimate objects and that people are the entities that actually commit violent crimes.

Right now, though, we have a serious national problem with firearms violence, and it won't get fixed unless country folks with guns and city folks mostly without them--without long guns at least--work together on a solution.

That, of course, can't happen because country folks are Republicans, city folks are Democrats, and the two factions are now so far apart that working together is out of the question. In fact, if they tried to work together, they'd probably shoot one another.

Based on your "logic", that's not true unless people believe it to be true.

Redefinition fallacy (logic<->history).

I think you will find that throughout much of their culture and history, the blade is preferred, even in the presence of guns. It is currently a big topic in London today. I'm not saying they don't use guns, but they prefer the blade.

Of course these were the guys that would wear red uniforms and march in a tight formation to the beat of a drum right into Americans hiding around them in the woods and fields. Can't get an easier target than that!

Since you think our barbarous dump is worse than your barbarous dump, don't bother to come to ours!

The solution is simple. Shoot back.

Do something serious about the mental cases loose on city streets, the homeless, the crime, the drug habits, and the grinding poverty caused by Democrats running these cities. There is no 'working together' on this. I will not work together with anyone so callous.

I didn't redefine a thing. You failed to accept the definition. It's OK if you don't. It doesn't lessen the definition.

You are the one talking "utter bullshit". Gun control laws only 'work' if they were unnecessary in the first place. And every time you impose more gun laws, your homicide rate ticks up a bit, then gradually returns to normal. So all you've really accomplished is to get a few more people killed.

History says that gun control doesn't work. Neither did Prohibition. But the idiots in charge insisted on Drug Prohibition, and expected it to work. That's where a big chunk of our problem is.

A big part of the problem is that "city folks" are largely ignorant about guns and that ignorance feeds paranoia. And that paranoia perpetuates the ignorance.
And our "serious national problem with firearms violence" is hyped up by that same paranoia. Our current homicide rate is at a level that we haven't seen since the '60s.
