Interesting. I have nothing against guns but they're just not my thing. I don't own any or go out shooting or hunting. So I'm not real tied into the gun culture or NRA. So that was a good read, thanks.
I see you ran away from the point I made.
You do not need an AR-15 in the face of a group of men who want to lynch you.
You are casting about and flailing around for excuses for the efficacy and actual neccessity of an AR15. Inventing fantasy scenarios just does not cut the mustard.
A concealed 9mm Glock will work perfectly fine to dissuade a group of men intent on lynching you. And a glock can be taken anywhere if you have a permit to carry. Are you really going to parade around wearing an AR15 slung across your back everywhere you go?
The AR15 is a substandard choice for home defense, personal defense, or for hunting pheasant, duck, or deer.
You do not have to take my word that a 12 guage is a superior tactical choice for defending yourself at close quarters. The United States and Canadian Armies recognize from the perspective of small arms tactics that the overwhelming firepower and ability to easily hit moving targets make shotguns the superior tactical choice for close quarters combat.

This is what your OP actually said.
Nothing in it said anything about lynch mobs. It spoke to personal protection, period end of story. You just retroactively invented that lynch mob fantasy scenario as I repeatedly listed off reasons the AR15, in general, is a substandard tactical choice for home defense, personal defense, or hunting.
IMO no one should have ARs but since we let crazy white boys have 'em, we can't exempt crazies of other hues from having 'em.

a popular, and very true, motto for us in the gun rights movement is that 'a 9mm is a great gun to shoot, until you need to shoot someone'......they suck at self defense. the rounds are highly prone to 'through and through' instead of causing stopping damage.

Because I don't own a gun? If that's the result then I guess so. I have no issues with guns. If people want to own them I have no problem with it. I just don't happen to own one and my passions include playing golf and basketball. I'm not a hunter or shooting range person. I have friends who do it and love it. To each his own what they enjoy doing.

i'm not a hunter either. the only reason i visit the range is to keep my skills up. i'm not a sport shooter. I also like golf.........but I know, from experience, that not having a gun makes one especially vulnerable.
