people around here who should and do know better all of a sudden lose all knowledge of how legislation is crafted
 
Too funny, the President, out of desperation, orchestrates a reality TV appearance and because he does it once one year into his tenure conservatives view it as proof he's Presidential

What was accomplished yesterday? Did anything actually come out of the meeting other than we agree to agree on agreeing? Did you notice how McCarthy had to jump in to save him from putting his foot in his mouth?

And then within 24 hours he starts again with his animosity and tweets

the lines were set.
1. end immigration lottery
2.greatly curtail/end chain immigration
3.the wall
4.DACA gets codified into permanent residency with path to citizenship

I realize it's been eons since we've seen any type of bi-partisan legislation, but that's the agreed outline.
Now all that is needed is successful negotiation/process and signing.
Trump is open too. "signing a bill"

I understand resentment for the media in general. Many people in the media are highly educated, and sometimes just their mannerisms & way of talking can be off-putting for "regular folks." Particularly the cable panels come across as pretty intellectual and even snobby at times.

So, I think a lot of people are automatically geared to be dismissive of anything they say about Trump, or at least go into "devil's advocate" mode.

I make up my own mind on Trump. There is plenty of direct observation to gauge him on, between his tweets & speeches. I don't see how anyone who filters everything out & evaluates him based on that same criteria can conclude that he is rational and measured.

A journalism degree makes one intellectual these days lol?

The media is in the narrative-stoking business. The narrative du jour [because Muh Russia is stalled on the runway] is that Trump is unstable blah-blah-blah.

I wonder if they’re aware the old Soviets would do the same thing to their political enemies? They would ‘diagnose’ dissidents with, whatever, and send them off to the gulag for fresh air and lots of exercise.

Probably not, that would require an education.

What are you seeing that I'm not seeing? Trump lies pathologically; that is basically indisputable. He is delusional to an alarming degree.

He is also incredibly erratic & inconsistent, often contradicting himself in the same meeting or speech.

Do you really not see any of this? When you see him, do you really just see a regular sort of guy who seems to be level-headed and thoughtful?

I didn't say that a journalism degree made people intellectual. But most in the media are what I'd describe as intellectuals; and that has long been a dirty word on the right.

Trump creates his own reality. As Conway put it, "alternative facts."

It's populated w/ conspiracy theories, exaggerations, lies and an essential reality where he is at the center of all things. How can you deny just the basics...his proclivity for near-constant exaggeration and self-aggrandizement? When he speaks at length, what he describes bears little resemblance to what is actually happening, imo.

No, I'm not. It's not a big deal, Darth - many on the right have historically professed a distrust of those who are too well-read, too intellectual. That's how a lot of those cable panels come across. It's just an observation.
