No one has claimed that but compared to coal or standard petroleum drilling, fracking particularly for LNG, produces substantially less hazardous waste, surface water contamination and carbon emissions. It’s not exactly clean and if not for strong regulations would be as dirty as the other two but when well regulated is cleaner than coal or petroleum.

Oil and gas production in the US reached a peak in the mid 70’s at about 9.6 billion barrels annually. By 2005 that had dropped of to about 5.2 billion barrels with a similar drop off in NG production. This caused an energy crises in 2005 with petroleum cost at $100/ barrel and $4/gal gasoline at the pumps.

Enter fracking. It’s been around since the 1940’s but was originally used to enhance existing well production. In the 1990’s oil and gas produces began perfecting horizontal drilling then combined it with fracking which by 2005 had a substantial impact on NG production which grew production dramatically. That production continued to grow for ten straight years. It was similar with petroleum, where dramatic increase in production began in 2008 and continued for the next seven years straight. That has changed the global economic structure for oil and gas.

Now note the timeline in which that happened. The vast majority of the increase in gas production and all of the increase in petroleum production occurred under the Obama administration.

So does this give you an idea of how divorced from reality wingnut conservatives are living in their alternate reality of alternate facts?
 
Oh and here’s another fact I’m sure the wing nut crowd doesn’t want to hear. During this period of spectacular growth of oil and gas production under the Obama administration, in which domestic oil and gas production more than doubled, the US also had the greatest reduction in carbon emissions of any country in the world.

In New York salaries of Art Therapists are about 30K a year higher than non- college educated.
