Different regions tend to have different interests. Urban voters prioritize different issues from rural voters. Etc. etc. Again, basic high school civics should have taught you this if you had bothered to show up for school.

That's because populated urban areas are represented in the house and the senate because they are elected by popular vote. If 2/3rds of our federal government is elected by popular vote (which favors densely populated areas such as yours), what are you bitching about? 2/3rds of the pie isn't enough? Well if having the EC means we don't have a free democracy then we've never had a free democracy because it's been in place since our founding.

During the aught's in California we passed Prop 8 which banned gay marriage. It was overturned by the courts. During the '90's we passed Prop 187 which banned any public services for those here illegally. It was overturned by the courts. If having a free democracy simply means majority rules then those are additional examples of us not having a democracy.

one electoral vote for every 580,000 people.......the vote of every person in Montana is worth exactly as much as the vote of someone in California or Texas.........two votes for each state........the two votes of Montana are worth exactly as much as the two votes from California or Texas.......

I want a system that counts my vote as equal to that of every other vote. Give me your reasons why my vote should not be equal to a person in Montana? Why should they have more of a say in who is President than myself? I am represented by Republicans in my state. I don’t have a problem with that because the vote determined who would represent us. It was fairly determined. One person, one vote.

Different regions tend to have different interests. Urban areas tend to have different priorities from rural areas etc. etc. Whether you like it or not, humans are social creatures. There are personal interests (the issues that affect you) and there are collective interests (the issues that affect your region as a whole). The original intention was checks and balances on that. That's why the original intention was congress elected by popular vote, senate was elected by state legislature, president was elected by delegates. Nowadays, senate is elected by popular vote as well. So, 2/3rds of the federal government favors urban agendas. The last remaining check on that was the executive branch and now you want that to. This is not how our government was supposed to be run, and for good reason. We were not designed as a pure democracy, and nor should we have.

All this should have been taught to you in high school civics for the record...guess I'm playing teacher today.

I did learn in Civics class and was never satisfied with the explanation of why my vote counts less than others. You still have not adequately explained it either. Why are some people’s interest more important than mine? Why are we not equal? One person, one vote.

It was enacted because their Founders considered the masses too ignorant to vote in their best interest. It’s time to get rid of the EC, it was never in the voters best interest.

Your vote doesn't count less than others. It's one person, one vote for both the senate and the house. Our government was built to have checks and balances. It's not a pure democracy nor is it a pure oligarchy. That was for a reason. We need a check on mob rule otherwise the majority decides everything at the expense of the minority.

It was enacted because the Founders acknowledged pure mob rule is a shitty way for a country to function.
