You can do whatever you want. If you want to stay isolated then knock yourself out. But there’s a reason millions upon millions of people from all over the globe have immigrated to this country and chose to “join” our society and become Americans.
The Irish Roman Catholics who came over here during the Famine took generations to integrate: that was because they were bullied and treated like shit. When people are treated decently they integrate very quickly indeed, and despite the Nazi campaigns, the Muslims I know are integrating very well, even, to a degree, in racist Bradford. As with the Irish, the main recruitment for terrorist action comes from marginal young men who feel the need to re-integrate with a community they know little about, and think a glorious death is a good way to deal with all their problems.

Immigration is not a right, it's a privilege. We have the right to set standards for immigration including refugee immigration.
Why, because it's our country, not theirs.
We expect assimilation...if you want to remain in your dark enclaves, do it in your own countries, not ours.

On the whole, coastal Euro-Americans are, for the most part, the only people in America who are responsible about procreation.
Non-whites, even coastal ones, are often lax with birth control and procreate irresponsibly.
However, as their economic conditions improve, all people become more responsible with family planning. The women acquire too
much earning potential to be knocked up all the time, and also become less submissive and more forceful in their dealings with men.

Actually Earl plenty of people come to our country and don’t assimilate. For just one example Chinatown in San Francisco is just blocks from me and you see plenty of folks who can’t speak English and probably rarely leave Chinatown’s boundaries. We don’t tell them they can’t be hear.
It kind of defeats the purpose of coming here if you don’t want to be an American but people who come here and can do what they want and that’s the beauty of this country. I get that it can be difficult for someone who comes here at a later age in life and give up everything you know from a past life. It’s like Mott said the kids of the immigrants are the ones who often assimilate better because America is what they know.
With that being said there is a line as I was talking on an individual basis above. There are folks here who argue large groups of people shouldn’t assimilate. If they get their wish then we cease to be the America that we know because the beauty of our country is someone can come here from anywhere on the globe and be an American. It’s not like that in other countries.

I do not think my grandmother ever spoke more than a few dozen words of English even after two decades of living in New York and Montreal.
Russian was always my father's first and prefered language.
All his close friends were Russian immigrant, the Russian immigrant community stayed close knit, and made it a point to keep many of their cultural practices.
My father made it a point that myself and siblings first language we learned was not going to be English.
It is effortless for first generation immigrants to be loyal Americans, but still make concerted efforts to maintain their cultural heritage and to congregate with other like-minded fellow first generation immigrants. First generation immigrants, in my experience, are the most patriotic and loyal citizens.
Wrapping up: I would put my family's contributions to our communities, to our economy, and to our nation up against any buck-toothed, slack-jawed, barely educated Trump book-licker.
