The very appropriate parallel to Germany in the '30s

And again - for those not determined to plug up their ears - the point of this thread is NOT to say Trump is Hitler.

It's to say democracy is fragile. Our American experiment is fragile. Just like Germany in the '30s, we could lose all of it if we're not vigilant. Expect the worst, hope for the best.

We came VERY close to losing our republic in 2020. Trump is taking steps to ensure that he doesn't have the same obstacles in 2024. This is all happening in broad daylight.

Prove it.

What solid actions outside the rather outlandish claims made about Jan 6 from the Left indicate that Trumps wants to be a dictator? He had four years in office. What actions in those four years can you point to (other than Jan 6) that substantiate your claim?

Yes. His failure to transfer power peacefully.

For the bolded - post #131.

Man, do you lie a LOT.

Okay, I did not see that post.
You made it after I left the discussion.
I apologize.

But that was only after I asked at least FIVE TIMES for names.
So don't get too fucking high and mighty about it.

Now where is this scenario?
You lying, stack of shit?

Yeah, sure. I'll continue to jump through hoops for you, while you ignore that I directly answered your questions, provided names, and continue to move goalposts.

That's not my job, kid. If you can't see what's going on around you, I can't help you. We were ONE VP away from the 2020 election being overturned. I'm sorry that you somehow missed that.

So...by the fact you refuse, you admit (in essence) that you cannot.
You are just scare mongering for attention.
Useless troll.

Good to know.

Thank you.

True or false?
Hitler LEGALLY (according to 1930's German law) became a dictator?

True or False?
The Constitution does not presently allow for a POTUS to become a dictator?

The answer to these two questions shows that you comparing America to 1930's Germany is TOTALLY ABSURD.
You just plucked the latter off of the top of your head for effect.
But - in reality - you have NO IDEA what you are talking about.

Since you quite clearly didn't watch any of the 1/6 hearings or read about them. Scenarios:

- Imposing martial law and seizing voting machines in swing states was a vigorous debate in the Oval. It almost happened.
- Trump tried to pressure an election official to "find" just enough votes for him to win an entire state. A principled official said no. Trump is getting those people replaced with loyalists and election deniers
- Republicans almost succeeded in sending fake electors to certify the election
- Republicans almost succeeded in running fake audits in swing states
- Dan Quayle is the only person who talked VP Pence out of rejecting election results and sending them back to the states, despite enormous pressure from Trump, his admin, and his supporters. Had Pence bailed on that, the election would have been rejected.

That's just for starters. Wake up.

Are these two questions easy enough for you?
I can try and make them easier if they are.

Trump doesn't give a FLYING FUCK about the Constitution. That's what I'm trying to explain to you. We were one VP away from the Constitution being ignored.

That's how it happens. A populace is lulled into thinking things can "never happen." That's the point of this thread.

First - and where is a link to back up each and every one of these?

I don't give a SHIT about your pie-in-the-sky guesses.
I said I wanted links.
Evidence.

Any fucking idiot can make up shit - like you just did.

Where is your link to back up that these scenarios ALL could have happened?
AND resulted in Trump staying in power?

And Hello - you stupid bartender.
The military already said they would NOT have supported Trump had he staged a coup.
SO that would have been that.

https://www.thebulwark.com/the-military-would-not-participate-in-a-coup-trump-cant-understand-why/

Do you really need a "link" to something like Trump pressuring an election official to "find votes?" Are you truly not aware of that? Or fake electors? Or the discussion of martial law?

If you're not, you shouldn't even be on a thread like this. You shouldn't even be on a political message board.

Listen you fucking drink mixer?

Even if Pence had gone along with Trump.
That would NOT have overturned the election.
You fucking moron.

Read the fucking constitution and the laws of the land.

DUH.

Say that you're not aware of Trump making a call to a GA election official to "find votes." Say that you're not aware that Republicans sent fake electors.

Okay...let's start with your first one.
Imposing Martial Law.

The military said they WOULD NOT go along with such an order.
It could NOT have happened.

Got it???

You are just making shit up.

What have I "made up?" Cite something. Cite anything.

Maybe the military wouldn't have gone along w/ it. But POTUS has that right, and it was suggested by former Gen. Flynn. Who is to say they won't next time?

Again: that is the POINT OF THIS THREAD. People get very secure thinking this whole thing is safe & secure. It's not. Learn from history - you haven't.

I did not say he did not attempt to do bad things.

I am saying that the Constitution/laws of the land would not allow him to overturn the election.
Got it yet?

Quick: how many people in Germany in the '30s said "we could never have a dictatorship here?"

Rough estimate is fine.

Thank you, once again, for proving the point of this thread. Definitively.

Okay...

'1- Imposing martial law and seizing voting machines in swing states was a vigorous debate in the Oval. It almost happened.
2 - Trump tried to pressure an election official to "find" just enough votes for him to win an entire state. A principled official said no. Trump is getting those people replaced with loyalists and election deniers
3 - Republicans almost succeeded in sending fake electors to certify the election
4 - Republicans almost succeeded in running fake audits in swing states
5 - Dan Quayle is the only person who talked VP Pence out of rejecting election results and sending them back to the states, despite enormous pressure from Trump, his admin, and his supporters. Had Pence bailed on that, the election would have been rejected.'

1 - no it did not. The military refused. You made that up.
2 - that happened. But It did not work and no one with a decent brain took Trump seriously. Everyone I know laughed at the recording. It was NEVER close to succeeding.
3 - IMPOSSIBLE to prove. You made that up.
4 - Impossible to prove. You made that up. How the fuck do you measure 'almost' in this case?
5 - You have NO FUCKING WAY of knowing who talked to Pence about it. NONE. Unless Pence says so under oath - it means NOTHING.
And WRONG - the election would NOT have been rejected has he gone along with Trump. You are making that up.

No idea.

Now answer my questions:

1) did Hitler gain dictatorial power, legally under German law in the 1930's?
Yes or no?

(the answer is 'yes' - btw)

2) is it legal in the present Constitution for a POTUS to gain absolute, dictatorial powers?
Yes or no?

(the answer is 'no', btw)
