They said wearing masks is stupid

It's incredible that you think that's a valid analogy.
he is just painfully stupid. A true magat thru and thru and the poorly educated Trump refers to.

Yes if the chain link fence has a mesh so fine that mosquitos have to squeeze thru like in the 4th picture here...

sddefault.jpg

... then yes, if you have to just enter that room for a short term and then leave it absolutely does help protect you from mosquitos who have to take a lot more time to pass thru it and do so much slower.

This is not rocket science. Whether it be good air exchangers, or using distance, or a mask, they all operate on the same principle. None are perfect and some are better than others but they ALL increase the time it will take for the exhalant of an infected person to reach you and infect you. Standing 30 feet away gets you TIME by making the virus travel further. That distance buys you time. A mask slows the travel of exhalant and captures a lot of it. Eventually the fine aerosol will reach you but if you are in and out of a location quick the mask could buy you the time needed to not get infected.

That is irrefutable.

Yes, it does. If I take the time to explain why will you actually read and learn or will you just say "nuh-uh" and call me a libtard?
It says right on the mask boxes that they don't protect from viruses. It's also simple mathematics that viruses are smaller than mask pores. It's also simple reality that most people don't handle or wear masks correctly.

A mask does provide provide protection from exhalation of breath and droplets that carry the virus by slowing its velocity and distance of travel.

Just as distance from a person and a good air exchange system does, none will be perfect in preventing virus ladden breath reaching you but they ALL buy you more time before the virus, traveling on your exhalations reaches you.

You have to be an idiot to not understand that standing 30 feet away from someone for a short time is better than standing right beside someone. The reason it is better as the DISTANCE makes the exhalations have to TRAVEL FURTHER and need more TIME to reach you.

Masks have the SAME function in short contact. The exhalation does not TRAVEL AS FAR and does not have as MUCH TIME to reach you.

That is why they both work.

Again you have to be gutter level stupid to not recognize what is core to the 'distance helps' argument which the 'TIME' and 'Distance travel', the virus is impacted by, with distance.
Mindless repetition.

For those not magats or stupid i will again state to deny masks work in buying you extra time, in short term proximity to someone who has covid is denying distance from that person also helps when in short term proximity.

If you go into a store and there is a person with covid in there but you never get closer than 20 feet to them for the few minutes you are both in there, you have much less chance of catching covid from them as opposed to someone who is standing talking to them for those same few minutes.

The reason is the covid needs MORE TIME to cross the distance of the 20 feet and concentration of the exhalation will be less as it does.

For magats to deny that just proves AGAIN they do not understand science.

A mask has the EXACT SAME dynamic at play. it increases the TIME the exhalation needs to travel to you (slows the velocity) and it cuts the amount of it put in the air.

In either instance if you are in that room long term with that person the eventual build up will expose you but the key is the TIME you are in that room and there simply is NO DENYING that BOTH distance and masks will buy you more time to avoid exposure.

If you are elderly or immunocompromised that time can be a matter of life and death.

Masks were and are demonstrations of obedience.

I am not having it.
I successfully renewed my driver's license in person here in Oregon during the height of the mask hysteria without wearing one.

It was quite a scene but I was calm and insistent. I told them I don't wear masks. They asked me why and I told them that's between me and my physician. They cleared out the entire lobby while 50 sheep were fully masked standing in line outside for an appointment which I also had. I was in and out of there in two minutes once they called me inside. I have never been inside the DMV where it was only myself and the staff before or since.

Masks have a place limiting covid like spread.

Where they work is in limiting short exposure to breath and coughing such as you would have in a quick grocery store or coffee shop visit.

Where they do not work (unless N95) is when you will be in proximity to people for hours on end, like in a classroom.
Zero evidence to support your claims. Probably why you didn't present any. Places with mask mandates didn't fare any better than places without. You didn't know this?

Masks absolutely work in the situations i described.

What you are speaking to is prolonged exposure and that is correct as the aerosol part of the breath, the tiny micro drops wil eventually spread out and you will breath them as they go righ thru the mask.

But for short exposure where you are just near a person for a short time, such as a coffee shop line, it is the large drops propelled via coughing, talking and sneezing and how far they travel and how fast that are the bigger threat then the slower build up of the aerosol.

You have to be an idiot to see the sneeze picture i put above and not understand how that spread of breath, done in an instant is not propelling the covid virus out with it. The virus is in that sneeze expellant.

Slowing that spread out of that air, in short exposure so you can leave the area absolutely can work to prevent transmission.
Except that it doesn't prevent transmission. Pesky little details.

There is lots of evidence if you want to relitigate it. Just because you magats repeat lies over and over does not make them true or fact.

When i present the evidence your go to will be to hand wave it away and call it fake, and not to refute it with facts or science. Then you will go back to claiming the evidence does not exist.

there is substantial evidence that properly worn, masks significantly reduce the spread of COVID-19 and provide personal protection by filtering airborne respiratory droplets and aerosols. The higher quality the mask the more protections that are gained. [1, 2]
Impact on Spread Rates and Protection:
    • Source Control: Masks act as a physical barrier that traps respiratory particles exhaled by the wearer. This drastically reduces the amount of virus released into the environment, especially when worn by infected individuals who may be asymptomatic. [1, 2]
    • Personal Protection: High-filtration masks (such as N95s and KN95s) also protect the wearer by filtering out incoming aerosols and droplets from the air. [1, 2, 3]
    • Viral Load Reduction: Even when masks do not prevent 100% of infections, they can reduce the total dose of the virus a person inhales, which has been shown to decrease the likelihood of severe disease. [1]
    • Consistency and Fit: The effectiveness of masking depends highly on proper fit—leaving no gaps around the nose or sides—and consistency. [1, 2]

No one is saying "prevent" as in an absolute denial of not getting infected but i am glad you concede defeat by now trying to change what we were arguing about as you know you lost.

What we are saying is that it buys a person ADDITIONAL TIME in a short term proximity situation (store, bank line, coffee shop) to someone with covid, such that they can get in and out and not come in contact with the infected persons exhalant (breath) and thus avoid infection.

"Avoiding" infection as much as possible is often the only defense people have when there is NOTHING known to "prevent" infection.

It says right on the mask boxes that they don't protect from viruses. It's also simple mathematics that viruses are smaller than mask pores. It's also simple reality that most people don't handle or wear masks correctly.
That label is on the box for legal and design reasons, not because masks are useless.

As far as "smaller than mask pores:

1. It's never one virus floating through the air. They travel is clumps around water/mucous droplets that are far larger.

2. In the event that there are individual virus particles floating free an N or KN 95 mask has an electric charge that actively pulls tiny particle like individual viruses out of the air and locks them into the fabric, exactly like a HEPA filter.

So yes, masks work.

You idiots walking around like this are gonna die though.

I love that you posted those photos lol.

Back at the beginning of covid, when the Canadian Gov't was saying "Don't wear masks!!", I posted a video of that same thing and the left4rds said it was stupid.

But it wasn't just what they were saying that was wrong, it was the fact that the Canadian gov't, in all their wisdom, was saying "We don't need all of this PPE because it doesn't work against covid, so we're going to send it over to China to help them fight covid."

Of course that sounds impossibly stupid, but it's the exact same brand of logic-free thinking as "Everyone has to take the vaccines because they work perfectly, and people who aren't vaxed can give the vaxed people covid and it will kill them!"

My personal feeling is that people should have worn N95 masks on public transport and in other confined spaces, but cutting up t-shirts and wearing them all day was stupid.

Basically everything that our gov't in Canada said and did during covid was extremely stupid.

Conservatives weren't the stupid ones, Q.

You had leftist leaders down in the US like Bill DeBlasio (on about Feb 9 iirc) saying "Ride the subway and eat in restaurants like normal".

FYI the NY Subway system is a petri dish to about 4.5M riders a day, who then go on to work or take classes in close proximity to ten million more ppl. It was beyond stupid for him to say that back then.

Then near the end of MARCH, Pelosi was on a "Blocking flights from China is RACIST!" tour where she was going into stores with tightly massed crowds, hugging strangers.

To leftists, who have no idea how viruses spread, that seemed normal, but it was hilarious for the rest of us.

While leftists in the US were saying all those stupid things, Canadians were saying "Trudeau is fighting covid so much better than Trump because covid is spreading so fast in America!!", but the fact is that our western provinces avg 3.5M people. Imagine the difference between "4.2M people riding the NYC subway per day", and 3.5M people scattered across 280,000 sq miles (bigger than Texas). If you know what "epidemiology" means without reading the definition, you know how f'd up of a comparison that is.

As far as covid is concerned, left4rds were ferociously stupid.

Those are made with polyester fabric. I'm allergic to polyester so I had a medical excuse to not wear one, not that I really needed it, but it was convenient.
