Sometimes you are just so dumb. So here is a scenario for you. There is a Catholic person you have never met before,.... you have a conversation with them,.....you ask them...." so, are you a believer?" How are they going to answer that question? Will they say.... YES Im a Christian? NO,...no they wont. Instead they will say.....YES,..Im Catholic.

Catholicism is a denomination. Just like Baptist, Mormon and Jehovah Witnesses. Ask them if they believe and they will tell you their denomination.
They fall under the umbrella of Christianity and by definition they are Christian. It's quite simple.

Christians base their church on the the Gospel of the Bible. Those three do not. 2 of them were started by nutcases,....the third is a hodgepodge of pagan religions mixed with early Christianity. The second you add in ANY pagan beliefs to a given church that church ceases to be a Christian church.

I know the claim by heart though so I do know what you mean. I grew up in a Fundie family and my dad was a pastor. We all believed that Catholics are false Christians (sometimes going as far to say they're wolves in sheep clothes). So I get it.
