Yes, it is. Why does the Democratic Party keep focusing upon it in the face of a wannabe fascist state?*sigh* That gun-grabber shit is so old and tired. Well said.

Disagreed since it remains a large part of the Democratic agenda. Banning ARs is silly. It's a stepping stone by the gun-grabbing Left to ban all semi-automatic weapons including the #1 killer in the US: the 9mm pistol. Most "gun deaths" are suicides which only require a single shot.
Banning ARs does little to save the lives of murder victims or suicides.

Nope.I'm guessing that this will blow back on Trump since he both asked Russia to interfere in the 2016 election and the Mueller investigation proved that the Russians did try to interfere in the election.
Additionally, I believe this is a pretense for Trump to try to steal the Midterms. Americans should resist all attempts to subvert our elections, either by domestic enemies to the Constitution or foreign ones.
Those on the Left complain a lot about fascism in our federal government yet they also support undercutting the Second Amendment which allows Americans to defend themselves against tyranny.
Sun Tzu said "The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting."
Using Sun Tzu's philosophy, the best way to stave off tyranny is to convince the tyrants they would lose in the end....if not end up like Benito Mussolini, if they try to take our rights, shred our Constitution and/or overthrow our Republic.
Two ways to do that are:
1) resist such actions through the First Amendment
2) dissuade bad actors from taking our rights by presenting a credible force of an armed citizenry per the Second Amendment.

Did the Brutal Death of Mussolini Contribute to Hitler’s Suicide?
Seventy years ago on Tuesday, partisans in the backwoods of northern Italy summarily executed Benito Mussolini after they happened to foil the dictator’s attempted escape…foreignpolicy.com
What do you think a fascist or tyrannical state would turn our nation into?
Again, the wisdom of Sun Tzu applies. "The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting."
The most effective and reliable weapons for home defense are 12 gauge shotguns and high caliber revolvers.Let's face it, Dutch. AR's are stepping into military-grade weapons on civilian soil. They are used and designed to massacre. While that would be great in a dystopian society, it's not so in a civilized one. You can protect your land, rights, self, etc without that heavy of arms. They are modeled after weapons made for a war zone. Now, if America ever becomes a war zone, we can talk.
this is your party now, traitor. No doubt banning cars would also save lives. The problem, IMHO, is that banning freedoms is not the best path to preserving freedom in America.
Looking at the specifics of those shootings is a clue to a better path; namely solving gang violence and better mental health care. Resolving those issues would create a better America instead of a more restricted one.
yes.My position is closer to Taichi's.
We do not need to agree or disagree on the gun issue in this or other threads, that are not gun focused (2A) threads and i do not think it helps our discussions to argue about it in other threads that have a different focus we do agree on.
No.yes.
you realize gun grabbing is a losing issue for your party.
when will you wake up about open borders, globalism and child transing?
you know its a loser.No.
I just do not see the point of discussing it in a thread about the Reflecting Pool, a thread about Abortion, a thread about EV's, a thread about Data Centers, or said another way, since that topic is one that will get a lot of opinions and engagement 'i think it should be discussed in a gun or 2a chat' and all leftists can express their views, winning or losing.
I am just saying it has a place and i DO think it should be engaged if in that place.
As previously noted, I don't want to ban guns. I want more responsible ownership.Good luck with pushing the same plan the Democrats have been pushing for over 30 years with nothing to show for it except moving backwards.
No doubt both of you understand the phrase "pissing up a rope". You want to ban guns, I want better mental health control as an avenue to keeping guns out of the hands of mentally ill people. Which do you think is better? The plan that hasn't worked since Bill Clinton was getting hummers in the Oval Office or a plan that would save tens of thousands of lives every year?
When Plan A isn't working, my best advice is to go with Plan B....but that's me.![]()
Won't work. there is too many armed federal officers of various agencies.Me too. How do you force an authoritarian state to vet their secret police more carefully? Pink pussy hat protests? Making the news by getting shot multiple times in the face or back?
Again, I favor the path of Sun Tzu; make them afraid to push it.
FWIW, I think it's only a matter of time before Americans start shooting back. Trump will label it an insurrection, but State Governors may use the NG to express their disagreement. The faceoff will be historical.![]()
see my post above. That is a better thread for this talk and i suggest moving it all there. As previously noted, I don't want to ban guns. I want more responsible ownership.
to try and contain the horror, yes.Nope..
I even raised it in a 'pinned' thread here to make it a top discussion topic.
LETS GET AT IT!
ARs are semi-automatic rifles. Select-fire rifles are "military grade".Banning ARs is not "silly." No peaceful nation needs military-grade weapons in the hands of (almost always) untrained civilians, or in the hands of trained civilians as well. They are useless for self defnese in most areas where people live closely together. They are useless for hunting unless you're RB and enjoy totally destroying the animal. They are useless for target practice unless, again, you just want to obliterate the target rather than learning a skill. All they are good for is mass murder. Why anyone supports that is beyond me.
Me too. Define "responsible ownership". If it includes mentally stable, I agree. How do we test for that? The focus is upon banning "ARs" not better mental healthcare to prevent murder or, more commonly suicide. As previously noted, I don't want to ban guns. I want more responsible ownership.

The Ruger 10/22 is a semi-automatic, magazine-fed rifle. I used one for squirrel hunting in my early teens. The proposed Democratic ban would include it.

Hence why the Democratic agenda remains focused upon banning our way to freedom just like the Republicans.Semantics. No decent, sane civiulian needs these. Even less so for insane, mentally ill civilians.
Disagreed since many of them would be loyal to the Constitution and not the Orange Satan or an autocratic state. Even if it's only a few, they would pass information to American partisans.Won't work. there is too many armed federal officers of various agencies.
And I agree it's only a matter of time, but it's unlikely to change anything for the better.
