What will the consequences be if he actually carries through with this "threat" ?
I thought the left wants everyone to "pay their fair share". Isn't that what they say?

Funny how you say it is one person, so perhaps not fair to claim it is Trumpian policy, yet you make a string of threads based exactly on that. In this case, it is an insider, a person inside a very tightly controlled political administration.Anonymous sources again?
Yes. The entire story rests on one unnamed “senior US official” speaking to The Telegraph.
The paper’s exclusive says Pentagon officials are drawing up measures to push NATO allies toward the 5% target. Britain is slated for “special attention” because the June defence investment plan (from the Starmer period) is viewed as insufficient. When the official was asked specifically about changing the U.S. position on the Falklands, the reply was: conversations are “candid and nothing is being ruled out as far as options for encouraging the sort of burden-sharing that we seek.”
That is the closest thing to a threat. It is not an on-the-record statement from the White House, State Department, Pentagon leadership, or Trump. Elbridge Colby, the Pentagon’s top policy official, spoke on the record in Brussels this week about the UK needing to “step up” more than some other allies; he did not mention the Falklands.
Official U.S. policy has not changed. Washington still describes itself as neutral on sovereignty while recognizing the UK’s de facto administration of the islands. Secretary of State Marco Rubio used almost identical language in April when a leaked Pentagon email first floated using the Falklands as leverage after some NATO members declined to support U.S. operations against Iran. Rubio called that leak “just an email” and “overexcited.”
Yahoo, GB News and others ran with “US threatens” / “Trump threatens” headlines. Those are stronger than the sourcing supports. This is the same pattern as the April story: an anonymous or leaked Pentagon-level discussion recycled as settled administration policy. Whether the discussion is real inside the building is plausible given the broader NATO spending review; whether it becomes actual U.S. policy is a different question that so far has no named official attached to it.

Reviving a settled conflict, undermining long standing internationally recognized sovereign border, 99% of the population wants to be part of Great Britain, and it puts even more strains on our international alliances. How so?
All it is is a threat, but that's all it has to be to cause dissruptions. What will the consequences be if he actually carries through with this "threat" ?

The United States has threatened to oppose Britain's sovereignty over the Falkland Islands if Andy Burnham does not increase defence spending, The Telegraph can reveal.
The proposal is among measures being drawn up by senior defence officials at the Pentagon as an incentive to hit Nato's 5 per cent spending pledge.
A senior US official told The Telegraph that Britain was likely to receive "special attention" in Washington's review of its allies' commitment to Nato, which will examine whether member nations have credible paths toward the target.

He implied nothing. He passed on a news report of a threat by the Trump administration.
The Brits built 2 carriers.
One sometimes works.
It has something like 6 planes.

There was no "threat." Trump simply said if Britain doesn't meet its NATO commitment, the USA won't bail them out in a Falklands war.
Supposedly, according to a single anonymous source.
