Oh my goodness......here we go. The thread was started on a religious note. I used a Scripture to make point, yes. That was all. It only means something to those who believe the Scriptures. To those who may not have the same "belief" as I do, it means nothing...it only makes it a jumping off point for fleshly arguments, not a spiritual discussion. As I've stated many times, the Bible is not a book of fleshly intellect. It is the Word of God and as the Bible states, "It is spiritually discerned."
Christians are admonished to not get into arguments and fights of the flesh over spiritual matters. It only "leads to strife and confusion." I'm merely trying to prevent a fight over something that God himself tells believers not to fight about in the first place with those who do not believe. Got it?

Sounds to me as though the god of the Bible is saying:

"Okay, I can easily forgive your 'sins' (the things you've done to offend me)...but I won't do it unless you first torture and kill my son."

That seems reasonable to...anyone?

Those people who blindly guess that stuff is true...should go with it.

Those not blindly guessing that stuff is true...get a pass on it.

But if you post the stuff you blindly guess to be true here in the forum...people ARE going to comment on it.

I find it confusing. A omnipotent god chooses this method to redeem people, it makes no sense, there are so many alternatives.

I never anywhere said other people can not discuss it. That would be stupid...this is a forum meant for discussion.
I merely was stating why I would not continue the discussion with Phantasmal whom I have absolutely no dislike for at all...he (or she) makes terrific thoughtful posts here all the time. I'm only responsible for my own behavior and use wisdom as to just how long a Biblical discussion should continue with another person.
So go for it. Rip Christ apart, curse God and his Word, trash me, let all the usual venom flow and verbal religious wars continue.

We are to come to God by faith, not fleshly reasoning. That's why he said that "wise men will stumble over it." (his plan of redemption by loving us and dying for us while we were yet in our sin). :)

If a discussion of Scripture is by like minds of 2 believers, that's fine. If one of the 2 does not believe AND has no interest in accepting God's Word as an agreed upon foundational basis of truth for a discussion, then it's best to let it go rather than to have a fight. ;)
